Hi

Fantastic to be back at the office at level 2, albeit a more challenging level 2 for business than last year. The new "Delta Level 2" has a number of changes. Here are the latest guidelines for business.

Here at the Chamber we are not immune to the challenges that COVID-19 brings. Some of our events have been postponed or cancelled due to the alert level changes. Unfortunately this year's Wellington Region Business Excellence Awards is one of these and has been cancelled for 2021. You can read the press release here.

On a brighter note, our team will be back in the office this Monday, 13 September and we look forward to catching up with many of you in person sometime soon.

The Latest COVID-19 Business Updates

  • MANDATORY RECORDING OF VISITORS in effect now
  • RESURGENCE SUPPORT PAYMENT criteria changed to include businesses in operation just one month (reduced from six months). These businesses will be able to apply under this new criteria from 8am, Thursday 9 September
  • A reminder of doing BUSINESS AT DELTA LEVEL 2

Preparing for Level 3, 31 August

Bronze Partner Red Hot Business Coaching & Consulting has been actively supporting business owners around the region (and the country) for 18 years. They also did a huge amount of work with business owners during the first lockdown. In this livestream replay Mark and Lance cover some of the things business owners need to be thinking about to ensure you are operating safely and within the guidelines. Topics covered:

  • Some different requirements across different industries
  • Safety procedures to consider
  • Bringing your team back to the workplace
  • Cost/benefits of trading at level 3
  • Web directories and online tools to consider

Wellbeing and Avoiding Burnout, 2 September

According to a recent survey of small business owners, the majority are stressed and anxious, with half feeling burnt out and a quarter feeling depressed. Chamber Member Spring Coaching joined us to offer some practical assistance for business owners to better manage stress in these times.

RiverLink Update, 2 September

The RiverLink project was formally notified on 25 August 2021, which means that consents for RiverLink have been lodged to Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council to jointly process.

This huge project is going to affect business across the entire Hutt Valley so we caught up with the RiverLink team to find out more. This is a great overview of the biggest infrastructure project coming to Lower Hutt.

Formal submissions will close on Wednesday, 22 September 2021. If you would like to make a formal submission, follow this link, or give your feedback to us at ceo@hvchamber.org.nz.

Shipping Advice from Gold Partner, 360 Logistics

We had this story ready to share with you last month (prior to lockdown), so while it's a little old now, it's still a highly useful update if you are an exporter/importer.

If you talk to any forwarder in the world right now, nobody has seen it this bad. Ever. We caught up with Priya Sharma from 360 Logistics to ask her what’s happening behind the scenes and when we can expect things to improve. Read the full story here.

It is certainly a challenging time for many businesses right now and we'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that your Chamber is here to advocate on your behalf. We will have our next quarterly Business Confidence Survey out soon and we do hope you can spare just 10 minutes to take part when the time comes. We read all responses and provide your anonymous feedback to local and central government to advocate on behalf of all business.

Huge thanks to all our Members and Partners for supporting us as we keep you all informed navigating these COVID-19 times. Keep an eye on our events page for more opportunities to meet up in person.
