Dr Terry Coyne recently visited China with Professor Pankaj Sah, Director of QBI, and Professor Peter Silburn. Attending and presenting at a conference in Beijing – The Fourth Symposium on Brainnetome meets Genome, and participating in talks on the development of DBS implant technology at Tsinghua University. The team then went to Shenzhen, where they are assisting in the start-up of a DBS service at Shenzhen Bao An’s People’s Hospital and a neurosciences research program at the Southern China University of Science & Technology (SUSTEC) in Shenzhen. Genesis Care invited the team to an information session about a new Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT) program which allows for simultaneous targeting of multiple tumours, enabling up to ten tumours to be treated at one time. Dr Hamish Alexander volunteered to have a treatment mask fitted, these masks are used for treatment of Brain Tumours and Brain Metastasis.
