Muresk Institute was well represented at Dowerin both in the Ram Shed and in the Education Marquee. The Sire Evaluation Program created lots of hype with many keen to check out the public shearing display of the progeny.
The program carried out at Muresk Institute, under Australian Merino Sire Evaluation Association protocols compared the progeny of individual Merino rams raised under the same environmental conditions. At the field days 154 of the 2016 drop lambs were publicly shorn and their measurements and fleece characteristics compared to determine the trait leaders industry is looking for.
A big shout out to all involved on this project – Stud Merino Breeders' Association of WA, Ag Innovate and Australian Wool Innovation.
