National Emergency Management Conference - Registrations Open Now!

We’re delighted to announce that registrations are now open for the National Emergency Management Conference 2021 | Hui Taumata o Te Uepū Whakahaere Haumaru which is being held at Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington from 25 – 27 May. We do hope you’re able to join us!

All conference sessions align with this year’s theme of 'Building Safe and Resilient Communities: The Future of the Emergency Management System'.

The first day of the conference, a hui ā-motu, provides a platform for Māori and indigenous perspectives on emergency management. The programme will bring together Māori experts and leaders, practitioners and volunteers, and those interested in supporting improved emergency management outcomes for Māori.

Days two and three, will build on the first day through plenary and breakout sessions, in which we will explore how we work together – through partnerships, co-creation, and collective effort, across a broad range of organisations, sectors, and communities – to support improved emergency management outcomes for individuals and communities.

So, during the conference participants will consider how we:

  • Value communities and their lived experiences to ensure an emergency management system that is responsive, inclusive and effective,
  • Remove structural barriers to achieve equitable outcomes, and
  • Value mātauranga Māori and indigenous perspectives in emergency management
