In the past years, the original Euclid Flex typeface family has been updated with a finely graded palette of additional styles (Euclid Circular A, Euclid Circular B, Euclid Square, Euclid Triangle, Euclid Stencil), allowing designers to pick exactly the geometric typeface they need. But it doesn’t mean that we have reached the limits of the Euclid planetary system yet. Our ever-exploring LAB space probe has recently encountered a new asteroid that is now ready to be unveiled: Euclid Mono Vanguard. While staying true to the Euclidian mindset, this new style aims to redefine what a geometric monospaced font can be. Euclid Mono Vanguard is available from our LAB or comes for free with any pre-order of the upcoming Euclid book until the end of March 2021. Typophiles, prepare for a treat! Swiss Typefaces collaborated with Jonas Voegli’s Hubertus Design and author Matthias Michel to create a very special type specimen for the Swiss Typeface’s all-time best-seller, the geometric sans typeface Euclid. The book called “Euclid – Typeface Mystery No. 1” will be released end of March and is now up for pre-orders. Early birds will be rewarded: For a limited period, each book’s pre-order on physical.company comes with a free license for Euclid Mono. This new font will be made available to you via an e-mail sent by us, while waiting for the book release. “Euclid – Typeface Mystery No. 1” goes far beyond being a classic type specimen. Once you’ve made your way through the first section and its mouth-watering glyph bacchanalia, you will a series of photographs. Taken by Matthieu Gafsou, they depict a cave, a playground, the Place de la Riponne in Lausanne, a highway intersection in Israel. But why do these places appear to have been abandoned? What’s up with the handwritten notes that loom in a second ghost layer? And how is this linked to TAIA Agent Nathalie Louise Whitewater? As you look beyond the letter shapes and start reading the text, you will discover Matthias Michel’s specially commissioned story of the forensic psychologist who investigated the ‘Typeface’ case, a series of cyberattacks involving data viruses hidden in corporate font suitcases. The Euclid specimen will be available in two versions: The Standard Edition and The Ultimate Edition. On top of being a limited edition with a different cover, each copy of the Ultimate Edition comes with a gift card hidden somewhere inside the book. Once you’ve extracted it (surgical equipment required), it will allow you to download the complete Euclid Typeface (4 collections, 55 styles) for free. Both editions are now available for pre-order from the PHYSICAL webshop. Whether it is for customization, an entirely new design or as consultants, our team thrives on collaborative work with other creatives. This month, we are delighted to share our recent collaboration with designers Simon Palmieri & Régis Tosetti for the jewellery brand STMNT. Starting with an initial design of the logotype set in Euclid Flex, our team reworked the mark into a unique design, fine-tuning it to fit all of the client’s needs and the designer’s vision. One thing leading to another, the distinctive M shape we found for the logotype became the starting point for our new Euclid Vanguard Mono. STMNT first flagship boutique has just opened its door last October in Paris. |
