No images? Click here As we prepare for winter and the changing of the clocks, I can’t help but think of the shorter days and longer nights ahead. Now more than ever, I am so thankful to be working in an industry that is committed to genuine and honest change, and one that creates content that will bring warmth, understanding, and compassion to millions of young minds. In the recent weeks, I have had conversations with numerous editors, designers, and art directors at every major publishing house. It is so evident to me that now more than ever, every single person is committed to raising up voices that need to be heard and bringing forward stories that need to be told. They are doing it not because it’s a new corporate policy or company directive, but because they believe it’s an opportunity to counter the negative voices that have been getting louder and louder for far too long. Here at Bright, we’re doing our part to bring engaging own-voices stories to our community through our Instagram account. Each week, a new diverse illustrator is invited to share content on our account and speak about their experience as an artist and as a person of color or marginalized background. We’ve been doing these takeovers for about a month now and have loved the questions that have come in for the artists as well as their thoughtful answers and commentary. If you’re interested in tuning in, keep an eye on @BrightAgencyUS IG stories every Thursday.
