We are half way through the year and so much has happened since our last newsletter. Muresk Institute has welcomed on campus a variety of exciting corporate events and training courses since the beginning of the year, with the rest of the year shaping up to be just as busy!
A new course flyer has been produced with an expanded list of courses and skill development opportunities on offer. It can be downloaded from our website and will be regularly evaluated and updated to remain current. If you don’t see listed what you are looking for then get in touch and let us know.
The construction is well underway to modernise and expand specialist agriculture training facilities at Muresk Institute. The new shearing sheds are now completed and ready for both training delivery and farm operations. The Specialist Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation and new classrooms are rapidly taking shape. The ongoing involvement and advice from Industry advisory representatives and training partners continues, making it possible to provide the best industry-driven training opportunities, knowledge and skills to Western Australia. Read on to learn more about our new upgraded shearing workshop and Specialist Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation.
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Laura Bryant to Acting Farm Manager for the next six months. With Laura promoted from the Farm Technical Officer role, a recruitment process is currently underway and I look forward to introducing the successful candidate in our next newsletter.
On the Farm, we received our brand new air seeder and it was put straight to use within our 2022 cropping program (pictured above seeding a French Serradella called Eliza), 29 healthy calves were born, and the lambs are out in the paddock.
On 24 and 25 August come find us at the Dowerin Field Days, and on 27 and 28 August we will have a booth at the Technology and Careers Expo held in conjunction with the Western Australian Robotics Playoffs (WARP) at Curtin Stadium. WARP brings together an exciting mix of robotics and research competitions to engage students in the world of primary industries, and to show how the development of robotics is changing the agriculture sector.
