Nominations are now open for the Saturday 9 September Strathfield Council elections! It’s important for candidates and groups running for election to remember you must register before accepting political donations or making payments for electoral expenditure.

David Prasad – Waste Services Manager

Whilst most of you are still asleep, my team has already begun their shift at 5.00am collecting your waste, recycling, green waste efficiently and on-time. We pride ourselves in having a high level of professionalism and work ethic. There’s no rest once the garbage run is done, we are also responsible for ensuring the park and street bins are clean and the streets swept. We also monitor and collect any illegal dumping around the Strathfield Council area.

We clean our trucks after every shift ensuring they look and smell great and are maintained to the highest standards. So the next time you see one of us, wave and say hi.

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to your community at one of the biggest events in Strathfield? Council are looking for dedicated, friendly and hardworking volunteers to give their time at the 2017 Strathfield Spring Festival on Saturday 2 September from 10am – 5pm. Council is upgrading the intersection at Rochester Street and Burlington Road. During this period, street parking and vehicular access to properties may be restricted. Thank you for your patience while these necessary works are being carried out.

The upgrade of Strathfield Park playground is well and truly underway! Equipment installation and landscaping have commenced, while 80% of the concrete paths have now been completed. Council is looking forward to bringing this premier playground to our littlest residents.

Control Backyard Weeds

Is your backyard full of weeds? Learn what they are and how to control them without the use of chemicals, at this Treading Lightly class. Bring along photos of weeds in your backyard for identification and advice.  Bookings are essential, and can be made here.

Thank you to everyone who made their way over to Airey Park and celebrated National Tree Day on Sunday 30 July. We planted over 5,000 trees and shrubs this year with the help of our local green thumbs!

Oroya Private Hospital

‘Oroya’ was originally a home that was later used as a private hospital, and was then known as the Strathfield Private Hospital. ‘Oroya’ was located on the south corner of Everton and Wentworth Roads, however it has since been demolished and the hospital is now located on the other side of the road.
