Update from the Board of TrusteesWith Ash Pritchard stepping into the interim President role, long-serving Board member Chris Barham has been appointed acting Chairman. Chris has been in practice in South East Queensland with his family since 1982. He has served as a Trustee since 2007. Continuing their services are chiropractors Mark Postles, appointed in 2001, and Blair Norwood, appointed in 2017. Rick Johnston is a chartered accountant and was appointed in 2007. Ash Pritchard remains a Trustee while he is the interim President. Rowena Szeszeran-McEvoy, "Rowie", has resigned from the Board after 11 years of service. She is a powerhouse of enthusiasm and positivity. Rowie regularly presented at Lyceum and guest lectured at the College. We thank her for her expertise and support. Over the past three months, the Board has been actively recruiting new members who have the skills and experience to provide a well-rounded approach to governance and to support the College to continue growing and thriving. The Board welcomes new members, Simon Kelly and Louise Blair, both Chiropractors, and Business Executives, Scott Taylor and Shiree Murdoch. The Trustees have established a new Board position to encourage up and coming chiropractic leaders. The Shadow Trustee role fills a need for proactive succession planning. In this capacity, the Board welcomes Lydia McClean. Commenting on the new Board appointments, Chris Barham says, "We are looking forward to our new Trustees’ input to challenge ourselves and to continue to set the standard in chiropractic education". The Board next meets in September. Lyceum 2021 - Speaker line up just got bigger!Changes to the Transtasman travel bubble might mean that our Aussie friends can't join us, so we just made Lyceum bigger than ever! We went into action and deployed our 'Plan B' and used our innate ability to adapt and rise to the change. We’re going LIVE with more speakers from our homegrown talent, including some who have just returned from distant shores. Check out the new line up and join in the fun with plenty of inspiration, insights and wisdom as we share our biggest ideas. And let's not forget the Bubbles and Bowties party! It's time to celebrate and come together with our likeminded chiropractic family! NZCC Alumni - Re-connect tourOur alumni relations coordinator, Vikki Kelly, is back out on the road and flying the NZCC flag this quarter. Kelsey Swanson stepped down after two years serving as President. Kelsey graduates this year. John Seo also stepped down after serving as the Secretary and ran a very successful CSA Games this year. Ben Carrington was elected President. Ben is a second year student and has served as a class representative and CSA Treasurer. New to the executive are Nigel Standing elected as Treasurer and Kim Turner elected as Secretary. "I am looking forward to leading the CSA to increase student engagement and support the student culture" says Ben. Nigel Standing, Ben Carrington and Kim Turner. Special Guest speaker, Patricia Warhurst, NZCA National Operations Manager, highlighted the support the NZCA offers students and the recent work of the NZCA. Congratulations to our Student InternsAt our recent College assembly, we welcomed our 3rd Year students to the Chiropractic Centre to start their internship. It's an exciting time in their chiropractic journey as they take everything they have learned in the classroom and put it into practice under the guidance of our exceptional mentors. They enter the Chiropractic Centre as students and will graduate as one of the world’s best chiropractors. During this time they will be serving their practice members and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our local community. Our new Interns were congratulated and presented with their Intern badges at our recent College assembly. Natasha takes on the role from Kathrin Haucke who is moving back to Germany to be closer to family. Natasha Stacey Kathrin has been instrumental in building the recruitment and admissions programme. Many of you will know Kathrin from our communications and events. We thank her for her exceptional service and please join us in wishing her well in her next journey.
