Sam Shaw – Environmental Projects OfficerI find working at Strathfield Council rewarding as it allows me to channel my passion for sustainability into work that really makes a difference to our environment. My responsibilities include project management, development of initiatives, community engagement and liaising with professionals in the industry. To complement my work towards sustainability, I love spending time in our great outdoors and I cycle whenever possible. My daily bicycle commute to and from work gives me exercise, reduces my carbon footprint, saves me money, and is quicker than driving! So I recommend the next time you think about cycling to work, research a safe route and give it a try. Rochester Street Butcher Shop1 Rochester Street Homebush is a recognisable corner building for most locals. The building is two stories and contains a shop on the ground floor and residence above. From 1912 through to the 1960s the shop served as a butcher. It was later occupied by The Cheesecake Shop and is now currently a grocery store. Image and words courtesy of Cathy Jones.
