Sam Shaw – Environmental Projects Officer

I find working at Strathfield Council rewarding as it allows me to channel my passion for sustainability into work that really makes a difference to our environment. My responsibilities include project management, development of initiatives, community engagement and liaising with professionals in the industry.

To complement my work towards sustainability, I love spending time in our great outdoors and I cycle whenever possible. My daily bicycle commute to and from work gives me exercise, reduces my carbon footprint, saves me money, and is quicker than driving!

So I recommend the next time you think about cycling to work, research a safe route and give it a try.

Council has joined forces with Australian Catholic University to provide drop-in tutoring for HSC students requiring help with study, exams and assessments. For more information, please call Council on 9748 9999.

When: Saturdays from 26 August – 4 November, 9.30am – 12.30pm
Where: Strathfield Main Library, Ironbark Room

On Thursday 24 August 2017, Strathfield Council had the pleasure of welcoming 73 new Australian citizens as they took the pledge and accepted their certificates. This momentous occasion was shared with their closest family and friends, Hon Craig Laundy MP (Member for Reid) and Ms Jodi McKay MP (Member for Strathfield). We are proud to welcome them to Australia and Strathfield.

It’s important to love where you live and volunteering for Graffiti Removal Day is a great way to tidy up your local area. All you have to do is nominate a site and help remove graffiti on Sunday 29 October 2017.

Rochester Street Butcher Shop

1 Rochester Street Homebush is a recognisable corner building for most locals. The building is two stories and contains a shop on the ground floor and residence above. From 1912 through to the 1960s the shop served as a butcher. It was later occupied by The Cheesecake Shop and is now currently a grocery store.
