Bressington Park Opening at Christmas Carols

Join us to celebrate Christmas Carols and the official opening of Bressington Park! You are invited for a day of Christmas fun and cheer enjoying the new space and facilities. Featuring a family picnic, community singing and dance performances, carols, kid’s entertainment, a Christmas movie and magical fireworks, it will be the perfect way to kick-start the festive season.

Mental Health Awareness

One in five Australians aged 18-65 experience a mental illness in any year and a staggering 54% of those with mental illness do not access any treatment. The NSW government is taking a number of initiatives to prevent suicide and provide support for mental illness. For mental health services in your local area, please call the NSW Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511.

$100,000 State Government Grant for Cricket Nets

The office for the Hon. Scott Farlow MLC has announced that Strathfield Council will be one of the many recipients of the NSW ICC World T20 Cricket Legacy Fund. The Fund is especially designed to ensure clubs and players at the grassroots level benefit from the 14 matches to be held in NSW for the ICC World T20 tournaments in 2020.

Women’s Week

The NSW Women’s Week grants are now open! Eligible organisations can now apply for a grant to host events that celebrate women. Grants are aimed to promote women’s health, well-being and empowerment. Applications close 5pm on Monday 12 November 2018.

Share the Dignity Morning Tea

Spread the spirit of giving this Christmas! Join us for It’s in the Bag morning tea to spread the love and compassion to women experiencing homelessness, poverty and domestic violence. Bring a handbag filled with feminine personal care, hygiene products and everyday necessities. Alternatively, bags can be dropped off at Strathfield Council Customer Service from 16 November to 2 December 2018.

Children from local schools were given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the topic of taking care of the environment. Churchill Avenue, Strathfield Town Centre

A couple of businesses including Rainbow Cakes and the Strathfield Private Hotel pictured in the early 1970s on Churchill Avenue are still in operation to this day. The houses on the tree lined street across the shops predate the building of Strathfield Plaza and the high rise units built on the Avenue east of Raw Square.
