In this issue we focus on exciting new advancements in the fight against cancer that are now available at SCCA Proton Therapy Center. We have introduced treatment for ocular melanoma and we are participating in the first clinical trial comparing proton chemoradiotherapy to photon chemoradiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer treatment.
Additionally, in celebration of a recent graduate and pituitary adenoma survivor we want to share with you the story of Scott Sikes and his journey with proton therapy. For our staff highlight this month we feature Nikki Neger, a radiation therapist at the Center and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor.

Phase III Randomized Clinical Trial for Lung Cancer
SCCA Proton Therapy Center is participating in the first clinical trial designed to compare proton chemoradiotherapy to photon chemoradiotherapy in treating non-small cell lung cancer.
After a tumor was discovered on Scott's pituitary gland, surgery was used to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Proton therapy was used to treat the remaining tumor.
Nikki Neger is a radiation therapist at our Center and knew that she wanted to have a career in cancer care after facing her own diagnosis while in college.
