No Images? Click here April19 2018 Workshop wrap up46 GP registrars attended the first workshop for 2018 in Darwin last week. The jam packed 3 day program provided GP registrars with important skills in skin procedures, musculo-skeletal, dermoscopy, cultural education and mental health. Skin specialist Dr Doug Duthie joined NTGPE Director of Training, Dr Bronwyn Carson in demonstrating punch, shave and excisional skin procedures. Day 2 the group heard emotional stories from Elders of the Stolen Generation and to finish the week, GP registrars and training posts were given the opportunity to network at the Training Post Expo. Presentations and handouts from the sessions will be available on myGPcommunity soon. The next workshop is in Alice Springs in October. Important program updatesWith the 2019 placement process approaching GP registrars, GP supervisors and training posts should make themselves familiar with the following policy updates: Training Selection and Placement Policy: This policy outlines the guidelines around selection and allocation of placements. Application for Placement Change: There is an expectation that GP registrars will honour their confirmed placements however there are times when a change of placement is required. To request approval to seek a change of placement GP registrars are required to complete an Application for Placement Change. Requests must be approved by NTGPE’s DoT/DoE BEFORE making any placement change arrangements with training posts. Applications should be sent to registrar@ntgpe.org. GP Registrar Professional Behaviour Policy: This policy provides guidance on the professional behaviours NTGPE expects of its GP registrars and the professional behaviours GP registrars can expect of NTGPE and training post staff. It outlines the flagging system for behaviours and the resolution process. Check out page 30 for interactive quick links to NTGPE policies, forms and guidelines. 2019 Academic PostsGP registrars are encouraged to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for the 2019 Academic Post Program. The program aims to provide exposure to research and the academic environment and encourages GP registrars to incorporate academic work into their careers.
