When: 9am-3pm, Saturday 8 September Powell’s Creek Environmental ContaminationCouncil’s environmental investigation revealed the source of the contamination at Powell’s Creek last month. 800 litres of cream were washed into the stormwater drain, taking vital oxygen away from plants, fish and other aquatic animals. The drain is just for rain; help protect our environment and report pollution! Wallis Reserve GardenWorks have commenced to restore Wallis Reserve Garden back to its beautiful original state from the 1960s with installation of 150 roses, repairing irrigation, and reinstating the sundial and pergola. Works will be completed in three weeks and the garden will be closed during this time. White Balloon Day As part of National Child Protection Week, Council is supporting Bravehearts by participating in White Balloon Day on Friday 7 September! Help protect our children, prevent child sexual assault, and empower them to find their voice. Throwback ThursdayFlemington Stock and Cattle YardsWhat used to be the Sydney Stock and Cattle Yards is now the site of Sydney Markets at Flemington. Despite significant protest from Strathfield Council, which preferred redevelopment of the site for residential purposes, it was decided in the early 1960s to relocate the City Fruit and Vegetable Markets to this site.
