Te Hihi School Board of Trustees’ ElectionNominations are invited for the election of five parent representatives to the Board of Trustees. A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations has been posted to all eligible voters. You can nominate another person to stand as a candidate, or you can nominate yourself. Both parts of the form must be signed. Additional nomination forms can be obtained from the school office. Nominations close at noon on Friday 24 May 2019 and may be accompanied by a signed candidate statement and photograph. The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during normal school hours. There will also be a list of candidates’ names, as they come to hand, for inspection at the school. Voting closes at noon on Friday 7 June 2019. Wendy Carpenter Returning Officer HillaryThe students in Hillary have been experimenting with a variety of leaves to produce leaf rubbing art. They have written poetry and have enjoyed exploring the autumn leaves about the school. Te KanawaTe Kanawa Artefact Boxes. These boxes are used by teachers and pupils in a variety of ways, from a simple classroom display to presenting sessions describing the artefacts. The contents can be used to make interesting comparative studies between the way other people around the world live and the way we live today. In each box there are several photos or replicas of artefacts that can be specifically associated with an era or geographical area. Some of these artefacts can then be used to provide a practical living history example within the classroom. We use boxes in other parts of our inquiries. TaylorOn Wednesday, Taylor went on a trip to the Auckland Museum. They all enjoyed the day and were fascinated by some of the displays they saw. A big thank you to the parent helpers who supported Taylor on the day. We could not do things like this without parental help.
