Principal's Message - Meaghan Cook Hi, and welcome to my final newsletter for Term 3 2020. Year 11 Final course examinations were completed this week. These exams will give valuable feedback to students on individual course content knowledge and skills. My advice is that students use this feedback to inform them on how to improve their results as they transition to Year 12. Classroom teachers, Year Advisors or the Career advisor are available for support if required. Term 4 Updated Guidelines - COVID-19Hastings Secondary College along with all other NSW Schools continues to be safe and operations are in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHHPPC) and NSW Health guidelines. All students are expected to attend their respective campuses unless they are unwell or have a medical certificate to support their absence. The following advice for parents assists in limiting students’ exposure to harmful online content:

ArtWalk 2020 Hastings Secondary College, Port Macquarie students are taking part in ArtWalk 2020! The ArtWalk’s Longest Footpath Art Gallery will held in the CBD businesses of Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton. Hastings Secondary College, Port Macquarie Campus student sculptures will be displayed in the window of HEM Property on the corner of Horton and William Streets. HSC written exams guidelines Schools across NSW have received guidelines to support planning for the Higher School Certificate (HSC) written exams that start on 20 October. Year 12 Students COVID-19 Testing If you need to take a COVID-19 test, let the health workers know that you are a HSC student, and your results will be fast-tracked. Share this with friends and family members to spread the word. HSC Study Days Year 12 students Regional Youth Taskforce Submissions are now being accepted. Closing soon. 2021 Instrumental EnsemblesAvailable to public school students in Years 5-12. Interested students are to speak with their Music Teachers before applying.The Arts Unit offers six instrumental ensembles that rehearse on a weekly basis in Lewisham. We have
two wind ensembles, two jazz stage bands, one string ensemble and one symphony orchestra. Our ensembles are open to public school students in Years 5-12. Tell Them from Me Student Survey Parent FAQ document for the student survey: Hastings Secondary School, Port Macquarie Campus is delighted this term, that our school like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices.
