Information Literacy Month
Find more resources through the American Library Association (ALA) or talking to your COS librarians. You can also schedule an instruction session in the Library with your designated liaison.
In 1989, the American Library Association defined information literacy as the ability to “recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information".

Instructional Design and Open Education Resources (OER) Librarian for Improving Online CTE Pathways Grant Program

COS Librarians Manlia Xiong and Emily Campbell and have recently completed the Creative Commons Certificate, recognizing expertise in open licensing. The skills they gained through this certification will help them support faculty in adopting and creating OER.

1. Go to: giantcosedu.sharepoint.com/LRC. It may prompt you to login.
2. Click the LRC Document Library box toward the right.
3. Click the first folder, Faculty OER Resources.

To embed in your Canvas class(es), click the image to the right to view PDF, or:
1. Once in Canvas, choose the "Canvas Commons" icon
2. Search COS Online Library Tutorials
3. Select "COS Online Library Tutorials" icon
4. Select the "Import/Download" button, then choose the course you want to import into.

Lodgepole Modernization
The Visalia first floor Reference section in Lodgepole recently received an update. The existing Reference Collection tables were moved upstairs and replaced with modular seating. Bar stools were added behind the Ask a Librarian desk.
