On Monday 19 December 2016 Strathfield Council lodged a GIPA application to the Office of Local Government and Department of Premier and Cabinet to obtain any revised Delegate’s Report in relation to the State Government’s merger proposal for Strathfield, Burwood and Canada Bay councils. In addition, this week Council also initiated proceedings in both the Court of Appeal and Land & Environment Court in relation to the amalgamation. Council has today received communication that a revised Delegate’s Report dated September 2016 is now available on the State Government’s Stronger Councils website: A review of the website revealed that the revised Delegate’s Report was uploaded yesterday 20 December 2016, despite the Report being dated September 2016. Early this morning, 21 December 2016, Council received correspondence that Strathfield has until the 20 January 2017 to make a submission on the revised Delegate’s Report. Council will be making representations to the State Government demanding that such a tight deadline be extended given the Christmas/New Year holiday period to allow sufficient time for Council and any residents to review and respond appropriately to such a significant document. |
