Covid had enforced separation from my octogenarian mother, whose mental health was suffering due to all the uncertainty and trauma around the pandemic. It was imperative that I support her in her hour of need, even though there was a ton of activity at the Health Innovation Hub. We were launching the monthly Health Innovators’ Meetup from May 12, we had a planned In Conversation event in collaboration with Edmonton Public Library and the University of Alberta library in April, and we were in the midst of hiring an Event Coordinator, to name just a few! There was never a good time for a holiday. But, I have an amazing team who rallied behind me and steadfastly worked to support our community of health innovators. They brought to you the Biweekly Digest in my absence and reinforced the power of community. They showed that the Health Innovation Hub lives up to our values of collaborate, innovate and impact. They showed that by building a culture of collaboration, we can support one another and grow. Thank you, team! Our growth has continued and we have onboarded several new companies over the past month. If you have not already done so, check out the Companies page on our website to get the latest updates. Miral, this week’s Meet our Community member believes that the “Health Innovation Hub … brings together and provides support to early-stage healthcare companies”. In the spirit of community, we are gearing up for the first Health Innovators’ Meetup next week. This in-person event will give you the opportunity to meet with innovators, scientists, entrepreneurs, service providers, students, and enthusiasts in an informal networking event while listening to guest speakers and participating in floor discussions. I will strongly encourage you to get your ticket before we are sold out. In closing, I would like to thank you personally for supporting us to do the work we do. Thank you for engaging in our community incubator activities and giving us valuable feedback. Please forward the digest to your network to support the momentum in health innovation across Alberta.
