Michael McAulay – Recreation Planner

I am Council's Recreation Planner, a role I find both gratifying and fulfilling. I am currently working on designing, planning and developing  areas for the Strathfield Community. In addition, my responsibilities include coordinating recreational facility hire and managing the completion of Strathfield Council’s 25 playgrounds.

My most recent achievement was coordinating the redevelopment of the 2,225 square metre playground at Strathfield Park. Working to a tight deadline to ensure it was ready for the Spring Festival was challenging. It is rewarding to see the community enjoying this playground and I look forward to delivering the remainder of the playground upgrades.

Movies in the Park is back! Kicking off the season is TROLLS (PG) on Saturday 30 September at sunset (approx. 6.30pm), Strathfield Park.

After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy (Anna Kendrick), the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious curmudgeonly Branch (Justin Timberlake) set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Together, this mismatched duo embarks on a rescue mission full of adventure and mishaps – trying to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done.

Please click here for a full list of movies for this season.

Strathfield LGA is home to many beautiful birds, however feeding them bread can be harmful to certain breeds, especially those which feed on nectar from flowers. Instead of feeding birds such as pigeons, ibis or lorikeets, why not plant native plants which provide food and shelter for them as part of National Biodiversity Month.

For advice about what to plant, call Council on 9748 9999 or email:
nursery@strathfield.nsw.gov.au

Know your street – Marion St, Strathfield

In the 1986 Strathfield Heritage Study, Marion Street was recommended for retention as a heritage conservation area.  Marion Street primarily features interwar style housing which was developed until the 1930s and 1940s. The street is located on part of the original 1841 land grant to Joseph Hyde Potts, Secretary of Bank of NSW.
