Did you set your daily health self-screen reminder?

Did you know that you can set your Tennessee app to remind you to complete your daily health self-screen? The University is requiring all students, faculty and staff to complete a daily health self-screen before coming to campus for the day. Answers to individual questions will not be stored. Please make sure that you are complying with UT's Covid-19 and Knox County Health Department requirements and completing your daily health self-screening.

To set a reminder in the Tennessee app:

  1. In the Tennessee App, click on the Current Students icon in the bottom left corner.
  2. Click on the Daily Health Self-Screening icon.
  3. In the grey bar, click on "Manage Self-Screen Auto Reminders".
  4. Complete the form and save your preferences.

Adding and Dropping Classes

**Update to drop/add deadline**

Please be mindful that the university changed the drop/add deadline for full-session classes to seven days. That change takes effect this fall.

Full-Session Classes Deadline: The last day to drop or add a full-session class without a W for this term is Tuesday, August 25th.

First-Session Classes Deadline: The last day to add or drop a first-session class without a W is Monday, August 24th.

We suggest any drop or add be conducted by 4:30 pm to be safe.  For more information about registration deadlines, please see the calendar on the Registrar’s website.

Virtual Drop-in Office Hours

In preparation for the upcoming fall semester, the advising staff will be holding Virtual Drop-In Office Hours for the next couple of weeks.  This will be done using the Zoom application. Advisors will be sending emails to their individual students with the Zoom link information.  Virtual Drop-In Office Hours are not for future planning purposes, but for any quick questions or registration concerns. Please check your email frequently to find this information.  If you have questions regarding this new process, feel free to contact your academic advisor.

Importance of Building Cultural Competency

Did you know building trust with business partners can look vastly different in other cultures? Make sure you’re developing your cultural competency, whether through study abroad or here on campus, to navigate these challenges. Reach out to haslamabroad@utk.edu to see how you can get involved in virtual opportunities.

Spotlights

What is a professional development skill a business student should obtain before graduating?

JENInterviewing. How you conduct yourself in group settings and interviews matters as much as your resume. Can you sell your story? Practice with a friend, in the mirror, or record yourself. Being polished will take you a long way. One of the best pieces of advice I received when I entered the workforce is that "you are interviewing every day". How do you want to be remembered?

KORRI: I think this depends, but I lean heavily on learning how to be an active listener.  It may sound simple, but I have found that we are taught how to read, how to write, but not how to listen.  Also, I would recommend finding a source of business news such as the Wallstreet journal and incorporating that into your daily/weekly routine.  Trust me, those habits will make you so much better!

In order for an absence to be excused it must be reported to the instructor and meet these guidelines.
