Click here Friday 4 May 2018 SLSNSW State Conference - Program TeaserLast week we launched the online registrations for the 2018 State Conference and already have over 50 members signed up to join us in July! For those who are waiting to know more about the program and what will be shared, work-shopped and discussed we are able to give you a sneak peak of a keynote speaker presenting on day one. Ashley Fell is a social researcher, trends analyst and Team Leader of Communications at the internationally recognised McCrindle. Her expertise is in training and equipping leaders and teams on how to communicate across generational barriers – be prepared to be amazed at her demographic data and what our lives between the flags may look like in the future. A draft program will be shared in the coming weeks, and we thank our members who have shared their thoughts and ideas for sessions at the conference. SLSA Inclusion & Accessibility ForumWe wish to confirm the ‘Inclusion & Accessibility Forum’ has been set for Saturday 16 June 2018, and will be held at SLSA Head Office at Surf House, Bondi Beach. The forum is aimed at any club, branch or state club representative who has an interest in the disability and inclusion space. The forum is open to all SLS Clubs and States, there is no limit on the amount of delegates that may attend. The focus of the forum will be on “how to”:
The forum will consist of insights from existing club programs, industry professionals, strategic direction workshop and guest speaker panels. Further information will be sent in the coming month in relation to program and agenda of the forum. The forum will take place from 10am – 5pm with the potential for networking drinks from 5pm – 7pm should there be enough interest. For the Forum the following costs will be assumed by SLSA for all attending guests:
Attending representatives will be responsible for all other costs. With the assistance of Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) who are supporting the forum, a travel grant has been established to reimburse the travel costs of a club to travel to the forum up to the value of $500 per club. The grant may be used to cover airfares, accommodation or fuel. Please submit this grant form back to tneowhouse@slsa.asn.au no later than Friday 1 June. Tathra AppealSurf Life Saving NSW is proud to stand alongside and support the Tathra community as they work to recover and rebuild after the devastating bushfires that swept through the area in March. As they now move into the rebuild phase, we have launched an appeal to provide much needed relief to the communities impacted. The total sum donated will be forwarded to the Mayoral Appeal Fund where the management and distribution of these funds will be overseen by an independent Advisory Panel chaired by the Mayor Cr, Kirsty McBain. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be made here. AIDR Emergency Management Volunteer ScholarshipOn behalf of the Federal Government the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) is offering the AIDR Emergency Management Volunteer Scholarship Rd 3, which is now open and closes on 14 May 2018. The million dollar scholarship fund has been established to recognise the complex service delivered by volunteers and the high-level skills and leadership required to respond to emergency situations. Funding is available for the reimbursement of education and training costs for volunteers in an emergency management agency that wish to undertake studies in accredited units or courses in emergency and disaster management vocational training and education, and higher education. Grants ClubsNSW ClubGRANTS Category 1The ClubsNSW ClubGRANTS Category 1 are currently open for organisations within a handful of NSW LGAs. Category 1 funding is available for specific local community priorities which support community welfare and social services; community development; community health services; and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people. Local Sporting ChampionsThe Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms, or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an Official National Sporting Organisation (NSO) endorsed State, National or International sporting championships or a School Sport Australia State or National championships.
