Students present at Port Macquarie Rotary Club Youth Science Night Three students from Port Macquarie Campus were invited as guests to the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie’s Youth Science Night on Wednesday 6 March. The students were Jaren Clarke, Ruairidh Granger and Riley Pritchard. Jaren and Ru gave a presentation sharing their experiences when attending the Honeywell Engineering Summer School in Sydney. The boys reported back about their week visiting Sydney’s universities and site visits such as RAAF Base at Richmond, Bluescope Steel and Thales Students shine at Sustainability Showcase Hastings Secondary College students shone at the Sustainability Showcase sharing their innovations on how they can make change within their community. They were energised and inspired by the enthusiastic Costa Georgiadis. We are not sure who were more excited the teachers or the students! Clontarf Academy Cultural Experience The Clontarf Academy took a group of Year 9 and 10 students for a visit to Thungutti country, surrounding Bellbrook NSW for some swimming, fishing with hand spears, turtle (dhawarr) diving, and the sharing of cultural knowledge. Hastings Heroes Team 6508 are ready for the 2019 First Robotics Competition Good luck to our Robotics Team who will compete at the Asia Pacific First Robotics competition next week. They will be one of 62 teams from the Asia Pacific. Students have been working hard over the past 6 weeks giving up their January holidays, afternoons after school and every weekend. Mud Crab Fundraisers gives back to important Cause Cancer Council Dancing with the Stars Mud Crab Race Fundraiser will raise much-needed funds for the treatment of cancer on the mid-north coast. This fundraiser is sure to draw a crowd…so come & join us for a fun morning. From the Auction to the race itself, bring your cash along and dig deep for cancer. Careers Excursion - Year 11 The Footnotes 2019 Careers Rural Roadshow will be held at Mackillop College, Ocean Drive, Port Macquarie on Thursday 4 April 2019. In this Roadshow students will have an interactive look into career exploration and planning. The school will provide transport with a bus leaving the campus at 9.10am and returning at 11.45am. The expectation is for all Year11 students at the school to attend this excursion. There will be no timetabled classes at this time. HPV Vaccine Immunisations Year 7 students have received permission forms for HPV vaccination. Forms should be returned to the campus office. If your form has been misplaced, spare forms are available from the office. These vaccinations will take place on Thursday 21 March. Year 8 vaccinations catch up immunisations will take place on the same date. Homework Help The Port Macqurarie Campus Homework Centre is operational from 2.15pm - 4.00 pm every Monday in the Connected Classroom. Shelby selected in north Coast Netball Representative Team Last Thursday the Open Girls Netball team travelled to Macksville to participate in rounds 1 and 2 of the State Knockout Competition. Calling for IRONMAN Volunteers Port Macquarie Campus are looking for student volunteers to help run the drink and food station at the old 'Food For Less' car park. Come and put you name down at the PE staff room if you would like to volunteer. More information will be given out closer to the end of term 1. Students selected to play in Zone Soccer Team The Open Boys Soccer team travelled to Wayne Richards Park last Friday to play in the Schools Knockout competition and trial for the Zone team. Due to their excellent individual performances, three of our students were selected to play in the zone team: Digby Pollard, Brodie Knott and Jyall Tregier. Congratulations to these students. Campus Swimming Champions announced The House race was a tight affair and the lead changed a number of times, as the usual combatants of Towns led by Mrs Davis and Flynns steered by Mr Rogers duked it out to the finish. Towns again reigned supreme by a very close margin, with their participation points winning the day for them. Sporting Success! Congratulations to the Port Macquarie Campus Open’s Boys & Girls Basketball teams who won convincingly all their matches and are now off to round 5 of the CHS draw.
