We are excited to announce that SpongeBob Fluxx is at the printer! There were some delays due to the pandemic, but our factory is up and running, we’ve approved the production samples, and the games are being printed as we type. We expect them to land in our warehouse in early June.

The SpongeBob movie is scheduled for May 22nd, but we’re guessing this date may be pushed a month or two depending on whether movie theaters are open. We are also unsure when and how this game will be released. So many release dates are being pushed that we are concerned about too many games being on the market all at once this summer. We will monitor the situation and let SpongeBob Fluxx loose on the world when the time seems right.

We would like to apologize for the sporadic nature of our social media lately. Back in late December we lost our social media coordinator, and we've never quite gotten back up to speed since then. But between the Kickstarter and the pandemic eating up all our time, we've been particularly absent on social media in the last month.

We apologize for this lack of coverage. But we now have a bit of breathing room to work on social media, and we plan to up our game a bit in the coming weeks and months! Facebook will continue to be our primary social media outlet, including our groups for Looney Labs Chatter, Starship Captains (all things pyramid related), Homeworlds, Looney Labs Retailers, and Looney Labs Educators. But we will also be (slightly) increasing our posts on Twitter and Instagram, posting a few new videos to YouTube, and attempting to up our virtually non-existent game on Pinterest and LinkedIn. This is also true for our Fully Baked Ideas presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

So what kind of content will there be? You can expect to be hearing about new releases, contests, puzzles, livestreams, tips and life hacks, behind-the-scenes happenings, game development, strategy tips, tournaments, what our games are doing out in the wild, and more. There will also be opportunities along the way for you to tell us more about you so that we can get to know you better! So... if you haven't yet liked or followed us on your favorite social media platform, please join us! We're looking forward to talking to you!

While you’re barricaded in (i.e. sheltering in place) from the zombie apocalypse (i.e. global pandemic), why not keep your skills sharp with a game or two of Zombie Fluxx? Or if that’s not your style, we also have basic Fluxx, with or without Creepers. All of these titles are available as apps for both iOS and Android and include a text based chat interface so that you can play with your friends or make some new ones.

Q: How has the current COVID-19 pandemic affected Looney Labs?

A:  We are all okay so far. Everyone has figured out how to work from home, and none of us are sick of anything except being quarantined. I myself still go to the office every day, but only because it’s so close to where we live and no one else is there. But all the game stores are closed and all the conventions and gaming events have been canceled, so we aren’t making any sales except online or from stores that offer delivery or curbside pickup. Those things will keep going until they run out of product, but since our distributors and warehouses are also closed, we can’t restock any of our vendors. So, things are bad, and the longer it goes on like this, the harder it will be.

On the other hand, we’re hearing a lot about how people who are cooped up together are turning to games like ours to pass the time, and hopefully that will lead to an increase in our sales later on, when things have returned to whatever the new normal ends up being. In the meantime, we are doing our best to keep everyone safe, and good luck to us all in these difficult times.

We usually feature our partner retail stores in this space, but nearly all of them are closed at this point due to the pandemic. If you have a Friendly Local Game Store near you that is still open for business, please help support them in these difficult times by purchasing locally. If not, our stock is dwindling, but our fulfillment center is still able to ship. Looney Labs games are perfect for periods of isolation. They're fast, fun, never the same game twice, appropriate for adults and children, and educational, too!

A few of our games can be played solo (Chrononauts, Early American Chrononauts, Mary Engelbreit Loonacy Solitaire, and Color Wheel and Verticality from Pyramid Arcade), and a few more can be fairly easily adapted for live video or even text play (Are You a Robot?, Are You the Traitor?, Choose One, Nanofictionary, Pink Hijinks, many of the games in Pyramid Arcade, and Zendo). We also have quite a few promo cards and other accessories that are not available in stores, so you may want to stock up on those while you're at it! Stay safe and have fun, everyone!
