Kia hiwa ra, kia hiwa ra
Nau mai, haere mai ki tenei hui

Komiti Māori hui are held on marae across the region to enhance participation and strengthen hapū/iwi engagement. We strongly encourage tangata whenua and the general public to participate.

Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council invites you to the next Komiti Māori hui:     Wāhi: Tahuwhakatiki Marae, 681 Welcome Bay Road, Tauranga
Te rā: Rātu, 12 o Hui-tanguru – Tuesday, 12 February
Whakaeke: 9.30 i taua ata

Tahuwhakatiki Marae is one of two marae associated with Ngā Potiki in Tauranga Moana.  Located near the Waitao Stream, Te Tahuna or Rangataua, and below Kopukairoa maunga, the marae is also known as Romai by locals. The fully carved wharenui ‘Rongomainohorangi’ (a.k.a. ‘Romainnohorangi’) commemorates a renowned Mataatua ancestor. The whare manaaki (hall) commemorates his wife ‘Tuwairua’ who was also a Ngāti Pukenga ancestor of note.

Rarangi take - Agenda

The full meeting agenda will be available on the Komiti Māori web page from 8 February 2019.

Bus and charity support changes proposed for Annual Plan

During March and April the Bay of Plenty Regional Council will be consulting on its Annual Plan for 2019/20. Keep an eye on our website at www.boprc.govt.nz/annualplan for more information closer to the date.

Most of the work we’re doing in the 2019/20 financial year is set out in our Long Term Plan 2018-2028, however we are proposing to seek your feedback on three initiatives that weren’t included in the plan.

These include seeking feedback on how funding from councils in the Bay of Plenty is collected for some charities that provide regional rescue services; whether school students in Tauranga should receive fare-free bus travel to get to school; and whether we should fund new bus routes to help tertiary students get to and from tertiary education in Tauranga and Rotorua.

We’ll be seeking your feedback from mid-March until the end of April. All information, including what events we’ll be at will be at www.boprc.govt.nz/annualplan in March.
