Crash Holiday ProgramThe next Swim School Crash Holiday Program will run at Epping Aquatic Centre and Macarthur Girls High School Pool over 3 weeks in January. Classes are available weekdays between 8am – 12pm and cost $80 per week. Bookings are now open! Dolphins Swim SchoolTerm 1 Swim School classes will run from Tuesday 29 January to Sunday 14 April 2019 at Epping Aquatic Centre and Macarthur Girls High School Pool. Free Lunch Time Fitness Training ClassesIn partnership with the Active Movement Studio two free outdoor fitness training classes will be offered in Parramatta! Jennifer from Carlingford has just turned 55 and was looking for a dance fitness class during the week located close to her home. She still works part time and after searching the Internet and the City of Parramatta Council website, went along to the Don Moore Community Centre line dance classes to have a look. “Everyone was so friendly, including the tutor; I could not wait to join up. Healthy Ageing App TrialAre you aged 55 years or older? Do you live in City of Parramatta Council Area and have an Apple iPhone? If so, you may be interested in participating in a research project which encourages older people to access their external environment. The University of Sydney is funding a trial of a free iPhone app in over 55s with research partners – the City of Parramatta Council, Urban Research and Planning International and the NSW State Emergency Service. The app is designed to improve access to the external environment for older people through the piloting of an iPhone app to alert aged citizens of the City of Parramatta to educational, hobby and exercise activities available in their local area. The app will include real-time transport options to travel to the activity including community transport and weather information such as extreme heat and flooding. The app has been designed by experienced app developers who have adapted apps for older users with larger font and easier navigation.The free app will be piloted over the first school term of 2019 in the City of Parramatta and will include over 55s activities in this period.
