We are now calling for applications for the next Cancer Education Course delivered in partnership with the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia.  The week-long course will be held in Perth from 17 - 21 February 2020. Aboriginal Culture Centred Care workshop in Perth

Our PEPA team recently ran a 2 day 'Culture Centred Palliative Care Workshop' from an Aboriginal perspective in Perth. We had a great group of presenters over the two days educating health professionals about Aboriginal culture and how to better care for their Aboriginal clients and families towards end of life.

Just get it done - Cervical Cancer Prevention Campaign

The WA Cervical Cancer Prevention Program have developed the 'Just get it done' videos to raise awareness about the importance of cervical cancer screening. The videos feature personal stories shared by cervical cancer survivors Natasha and Charlene, who encourage women to 'just get it done'. Watch the videos below.

You Quit You Win campaign

You Quit, You Win

Our Make Smoking History team's latest campaign - You Quit You Win, focuses on ‘all the crap' that goes with smoking. Developed by the Cancer Institute NSW in partnership with Quit Victoria, the campaign was informed by smokers themselves and what they hate most about smoking.

Palliative Care Placements for health professionals

The Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach offer 2-day clinical placements set in specialist palliative care settings to Aboriginal Health Professionals across WA. If you are interested in upskilling around caring for your palliative care clients, please contact Brooke Gallery for the application form.

Cancer Council WA Christmas Closure

With the exception of the Cancer Council shop, Crawford and Milroy Lodges and Cancer Nurses, our offices will close from 12pm Tuesday 24 December 2019 to 8.30am on Thursday 2 January 2020.

 

Upcoming events

Cancer Update Series (Free Public Lecture) - Workplace Chemicals and Cancer: How are they identified and managed.
4 December 2019 (Perth)

Although occupational related cancers can arise from a large variety of occupational exposures,  three cancers (lung cancer, leukaemia and malignant mesothelioma) account for most of the burden of disease. This presentation will talk about some of the scientific basics of common occupational carcinogens and also the regulatory aspects of hazard and risk assessment.
