New powers to penalise members who fail to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations

Business support programme gives hope to homeless entrepreneur

A young entrepreneur from East Hull has vowed to make the most of a new enterprise programme to build his own business and break the debilitating cycle of joblessness and homelessness.
As part of the programme, Aaron Conroy has successfully completed the IAB Level 1 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business, achieving 100% in most of the modules.

The new International Tax Compliance (Client Notification) Regulations 2016 came into effect on 30 September 2016. Under the UK’s Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) agreements, HMRC will soon begin to automatically receive data from over 100 jurisdictions about UK tax residents who have assets in offshore accounts.

Update from HMRC on 2016-17 Self-Assessment Individual Exclusions
|
|
|
|
|
Changes arising from Personal Savings and Dividend Taxation Reform, effective April 2016, mean that it is more beneficial for some customers to allocate (some of) their Reliefs and Allowances (e.g. Personal Allowance) against dividend income before savings income.
If savings income is covered by the Personal Savings Allowance, Reliefs and Allowances are more beneficial if they reduce dividend income in excess of the Dividend Allowance.

Job vacancies for accounting and finance professionals have risen across the UK, with the number of jobs available in the second quarter of 2017 up 21% compared with the same time last year.
According to research by recruitment consultancy Robert Walters, demand has grown for professionals across a range of specialisations and levels of seniority with technical skills and commercial awareness both highly sought.

International - Japan's economy posts longest unbroken growth streak in more than a decade
|

Japan's economy has enjoyed its longest unbroken run of growth in more than a decade, official figures reveal.
The world's third-largest economy grew by 1% during the April to June quarter - up from 0.4% between January and March, and well ahead of the 0.6% forecast by economists.
