EMTC is still CLOSED until further notice (including Coaching)

We hope all our Members are keeping safe and healthy in these trying times. We can't wait to be allowed to open the doors again so we can get back to playing our fabulous sport.

We hope you have been able to keep active away from our tennis courts, and maybe found a hitting wall to practice against.
If not, there appears to be many ways to keep your eye in.  Ash Barty has taken to practicing her volleys with a cricket bat, Roger Federer has started a 'volley at home' challenge, which has taken off around the world.
Meanwhile Alex de minaur's twitter page is quite amusing, and Rafa is cooking and jamming on the guitar..   Plenty to keep us entertained.

2020 WINTER COMPETITIONS Update

NIGHT COMPETITION:
Both WDTA and BDNTA have advised the remainder of the Autumn Season (Feb-June) is now cancelled.  Because only 6-7 rounds were played there will be no Premierships awarded.

Both Associations are hoping to start the Spring Season mid/late July.  Team nominations for this will be called for towards the end of April/early May.  Peter & I will be in touch in early May regarding this.

SENIOR WINTER COMPETITION:
PENNANT: An email, on 2nd April from Tyler at Pennant Vic, advised the season start is currently suspended, but they hope to play some form of a season. They have progressed with Pennant grading, which is nearly complete. However, as per their usual procedure, they won’t be releasing team grades until they are able to create a provisional schedule for the season. This is especially important this year, as they don’t know how long the season will be, which could affect the number of teams in each section and grade, and require some tweaking of team grades.

BRTA & ERT: Both these Associations are waiting to see if they can hold any sort of season, and they will let us know grades/fixtures once a start date is known.

WDTA JUNIOR COMPETITION:
Following on from Tony's email to all Jnr Winter 2020 players, WDTA have now completed their team grading and are waiting for a start date. Once this is known fixtures can be set, taking into account the shortened season.

MIDWEEK LADIES:
All MWL Competitions are waiting for a return/start date. When this is known decisions will be made of how the remaining seasons will be finished, or new seasons started.

RESULTS from the 2019-20 Summer Season

MWL: MEMRLTA Summer 2019-20 Section 4 - Runners Up
Due to COVID-19 stopping the finals series, MEMRLTA declared Premiers on ladder positions.  The A4 ladies are officially Runners Up.  Well done Anne P, Georgie M, Mardi A, Jenny T & Angela L.

SENIOR COMP:
Bayside RTA:  Unfortuately BRTA stopped their finals on Grand Final morning after confusing information from Tennis Aust.
Congratulations to our S/D Sec 9 Team (Matt B, Martin H, Paul T, Heath P, Chris W & John McC) who won the GF by default, as they finished top of the ladder.
Our S/D Sec 10 team finished a credible 6th on the ladder so didn't make finals.
Our two ladies teams, Sec 2 & Sec 3, both finished in the top 4 but lost their semi-finals.  Well done to all teams.

WDTA: They were able to finish their season, with Grand Finals played before total shutdown.  From our five teams three made Finals, and two came away with Runners Up.  Congratulations to:
S/D A5 Green - Elliot P, Jack A, Mark S, Rohan A & Robert P.
Mens Rubbers B Spec 2 - Peter C, Peter G, David G, Andrew P & Alan Y

MWL WDTA 2019 Season 2 - Section 4 Premiers

Coming 3rd on the ladder at the end of fixtures, the ladies finished the season with the Premiership flag - fantastic effort:
L-R: Charlotte B, Lindsay M, Jenny T, Anne P, Jenny L, Kim M

WDTA 2020 Season 1 - the same team was promoted to Section 3, and were half way through the season before things stopped.

WDTA Junior Comp Summer 2019-20

Saturday Morning:
Our only Saturday team finished 2nd on the ladder and came away with the Runners Up flag. Our team was beaten by a team that consistently won their fixtures 6 sets to 0 for the second half of the season. Excellent work D1 team, you should be very proud.

Huon F, Oliver B, Christos S, Edward P & Suzanne S.

Sunday Morning:

We had 12 teams playing Sunday morning and of those seven teams made the finals series, with four teams in Grand Finals (two Premierships and two Runners Up). Fantastic effort, with some very close matches. Contratulations to all our Junior players.

Premiers:

C Spec 1: Josh McV, Ethan O, Kanella P, Thomas B & Larissa W.

A convincing win by our top of the ladder team.

Premiers:

D3: Lucas L, James K, Alexander M & Max M.

A closely fought victory against top of the ladder team - we won by 5 games (3 sets each).

Runners Up:

C1 Blue: Tom B, Sam F, Hamish McE, & James T.

The boys only lost to the top team by 3 games (3 sets each).

Runners Up:

D Spec 5: Blake M, Thomas S, Joshua C & Hudson H.

After finishing top of the ladder, our boys went down to the 2nd placed team in a very close 'super tiebreaker' 8-10 (3 sets each and 23 games each).
