Update from the team at Converte

Agriculture is no walk in the park, but sometimes all the pieces do come together and the results can be very rewarding indeed.  2020 is a basket case agreed, but for much of the agriculture industry in Australia it is shaping up to be best year for a long time.  Hopefully the early promise turns into well deserved results for our farmers and the farming community.

Operating under COVID had been a strange experience for all of us, and we at least have managed to continue functioning despite not having much of a direct face to face with our customers.   This is starting to change as we get out and about in some states, but some areas are still difficult to access.   Field days have been hit hard and there is nothing on the radar til the national field days in October in Orange - fingers crossed on that one!!  Victoria, WA and SA are now closing borders but freight will still come through, make sure you call us directly for the best deal on product and freight.

In April 2020 Converte was awarded a Manufacturing Modernisation grant by the Federal Government.  This grant supports our production of a slow release pellet expected to be available late in 2021.  We have been working on this unique formulation for almost 2 years and are now looking forward to scaling its production with advanced manufacturing equipment.

As of July 1st we launched our new Bio-Restore Liquid Carbon product.   This also has been in the making for about 2 years and this is now available for soil restoration on low carbon or degraded soils.    The product contains high levels of carbon, a unique fulvic acid, organic acids and ionic minerals.

Despite COVID the next few months will be an exciting time for us and for farmers across the country.   We look forward to seeing some excellent crops in the coming months.

Best Wishes to all & Stay Safe

Giving Back to Bush Fire Damaged Communities

Since the begining of February Converte has been running a campaign to donate product to bush fire impacted farmers are communities.   The campaign finished up at the end of June and we are pleased to report that we have donated product to 20 impacted farmers.  Some of the locals areas and towns where product has been delivered to include Buckenbowra, Cobargo, Taree, Batlow, Eden and Cambewarra in NSW, Burrowye in Victoria, and Lenswood and Kangaroo Island in South Australia.  Our donations have covered more than 2000 acres of damaged soils.

We wish all the impacted areas well on the road to recovery, the impacts on land, buildings, stock and wildlife and on people and communities have been devastating and we urge everyone to remember the 2019-20 fire season and keep those impacted in our thoughts and help out where we can.  Most importantly we must plan for the future and build resilient systems that offer the best chance to avoid extreme impacts in the future.

The fires burn't an estimated 18.6 million hectares (46 million acres), destroyed over 5,900 buildings (including 2,779 homes) and killed at least 34 people and as many as a billion animals.  The recovery process will continue in the years ahead and we will continue to support the regeneration of the land and its people.

Vale - Conrad Vereker 1946 - 2020

We are sad to report that Conrad Vereker passed away in May this year, he was 74 years old.  Conrad was one of the original founders of the company and worked with inventor David Menne in the late 1990's when the intial product research work was undertaken.   He brought the ideas of David Menne to the NSW Riverina in 2003 and began trial work with local farmers.  Con ran into the force of nature in the form of the millenial drought, but his early work paved the way for the formation of Converte in 2011.

We all have many fond memories of Con and his unique character and personality.

Con is pictured above with Theo Menne in Barellan NSW in 2012.

Manufacturing Modernisation Grant Award

In May 2020 Converte were awarded the Federal Government's Manufacturing Modernisation Fund grant for producing its Bio-Restore slow release fertiliser pellet.  It is great to see the Government supporting manufacturing of sustainable products, this is the future that will align economic and environmental objectives. Thanks to Environment Minister Sussan Ley for personally conveying the news via video link.

For the next 10 months we will be installing new manufacturing lines and equipment.  Our aim is to bring a slow release pellet to the market late in 2021.  The pellet will help to retain nutrients in suface soils and slow release nutrients over more than 12 months.  This product will be ideally suited for horticulture, orchards, pasture improvement and soil restoration generally, especially in the lighter sandy soils.

Keep an eye out on our newsletters and web site for further updates.
