The arts and cultural sector contributed $804.2 billion or 4.3 percent to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016. Washington state's annual growth was over 11%! Read the data and other key findings by the National Endowment for the Arts here.

Arts Leadership Announces
April Book Club

We invite you to join the Arts Leadership Book Club for a discussion around this month's featured book,
Disidentifications: Queers of Color and the
Performance of Politics by José Esteban Muñoz.
Arts Leadership Assistant Professor Jasmine Mahmoud will lead the event with an arts archival workshop. This event will take place on April 29th, 7 PM - 9 PM in Suite 401 of the Jefferson Building (1401 E Jefferson St) on Seattle University's campus. A casual dinner will be provided.

MFA Arts Leadership students spend their final quarter working on a Summary Project that integrates their practicum and academic experiences from the past two years into one comprehensive project. 'Harlem' comes to Seattle 

Dance Theatre Harlem, presented at Paramount Theatre, focuses on a future that is characterized by expansion and engagement. The Company brings together artists from various dance styles and disciplines (e.g. music, fashion) to create new works that influence and enhance the ballet art form. For tickets, click here.

 

The Paths of Sculptors

This panel discussion, moderated by Frye Art Museum Manager of Public Programs Negarra A. Kudumu, will address the three aspects of a sculptor’s life and work: the value of a young artist finding the perfect mentor; the roles of intuition and inspiration in artistic process and practice; and the challenges of preserving an artist’s legacy.
