DHHS outreach and infrared thermometers | 26 June 2020 DHHS Outreach visits and Infrared thermometers - 26 June 2020 Dear stakeholder, Please see the information below regarding:
DHHS - COVID-19 Infection Prevention Outreach visitThe Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will be visiting Mt Hotham in the week commencing 29 June 2020 to assist businesses with implementing COVID-19 preventative measures within their operations. This includes reviewing key resort operations, sites with shared facilities and staff accommodation, offering advice on how to adhere to public health guidelines. The DHHS team will consider a number of areas ranging from signage and cleaning through to infection prevention and outbreak strategies, as noted in this operator self-assessment tool, which provides comprehensive guidance to all businesses. As a generic tool, not all of these guidelines will be applicable to all operations. How to organise a review of your businessTwo DHHS nurses will be in-resort for this purpose on 2-4 July. If you are interested in them visiting your business, please schedule a time via MHARMB by emailing jodiwhite@mthotham.com.au. Please note that there will be limited sessions available. Victorian Government supply of infrared thermometers to accommodation providersThe Victorian Government is providing nearly 5,000 infrared thermometers to holiday locations as part of the Victorian Government’s efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus, and Mt Hotham is being provided with thermometers as part of this initiative. Accommodation providers with communal facilities and with an expected increase in school holiday visitation, including caravan parks, will be given priority access to thermometers. The initiative will allow accommodation providers to take a guest’s temperature on check-in, allowing the businesses and their staff to operate with the knowledge that guests are not presenting with a fever, which is one of the symptoms of coronavirus. The thermometers, which are listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), are being provided to local councils for distribution from today, with a focus on the High Country, the Alps and the Great Ocean Road. Accommodation providers are encouraged to contact their guests 24 hours before arrival to ask them to complete a self-assessment for coronavirus symptoms before they depart. An interactive individual self-assessment for guests is available here on the Department of Health and Human Services website. As all Victorians with symptoms are being asked to stay home, accommodation providers may ask guests displaying symptoms on arrival to return to their home, if possible. If this is not possible, and if the guest is booked to stay in a room with others not from their usual household, alternative self-contained accommodation should be sought. For further information on symptoms and testing, go to dhhs.vic.gov.au/getting-tested-coronavirus-covid-19 or call the coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398. How to collect your thermometerThe thermometers will be available from next week. Please register your interest in receiving a thermometer by emailing hotham365@mthotham.com.au and Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board will organise for it to be dropped off to you.
