For the life long Mets fan, it is admittedly a dream come true,“If you stay with a team, there’s more memories, more ups and downs. This is the coolest thing that has happened to me.” On his love for the game, Son Little muses philosophically, “In your life you have these infinite situations and there’s things that you cannot explain that will happen, I feel like baseball kind of captures that in a cool way.” The opportunity came as a direct result of Son Little’s new single “Blue Magic,” a powerful modernist interpretation of soul that inspired the organization to reach out to cross genre innovator. Out today is a supremely funky remix of “Blue Magic” by Grammy winning musician / producer Eric Krasno. Krasno has worked with artists ranging from Norah Jones to 50 Cent, Talib Kweli and Aaron Neville. He also plays guitar in Soulive & Lettuce. Krasno and Son Little both worked on Griz's song "Driftin'," and Son Little was featured at "Bowlive," Soulive's week long residency at the Brooklyn Bowl. Influential Philadelphia radio station WXPN wrote of the song, “It’s an easygoing, stripped down vibe with bright xylophone notes and a reedy melody that floats through the spacious arrangement, anchored by a chorus of gang vocals and bluesy electric guitar.” Son Little first came to the public’s attention through his collaborations with The Roots and RJD2, and has since toured with artists as diverse as Mumford & Sons, and Kelis, Shakey Graves and Leon Bridges. He recently won a Grammy for his work producing Mavis Staples.
