NYLA Annual Conference

The NYLA Annual Conference and Trade Show is being held this year on November 5th through 8th in Saratoga Springs, NY.

This event offers more than 70 workshops, 100 exhibitors, and countless networking opportunities.

Free Chairs

A reconfiguration of the office has resulted in NNYLN having twelve extra office chairs. These chairs are in very good condition, and are standard green wheeled office chairs with armrests.

They can be picked up at the Network building during normal office hours. Any questions can be directed to Eric Alan at the Network.

NNYLN Fall Conference - "Wikipedia & Libraries"

Please join us for our annual Fall Conference, where we will be hosting brief morning presentations from our members concerning their completed Professional Development Grants, Technology Service Improvement Grants, and Training on Demand grants. These presentations are a great way to learn more about new projects both within and outside the region.

Following lunch, our featured presentation will be Wikipedia and Libraries, featuring Debbie Krahner, Learning Commons Librarian and Wikipedia Ambassador at Colgate University. Debbie will discuss the relationship between libraries and Wikipedia, demonstrate how to create and edit Wikipedia pages,and review existing projects that encourage the use of Wikipedia in a scholarly manner, such as the GLAM-Wiki initiative, Wikipedia WikiProjects, and the Wikipedia Education Foundation.

Library as Publisher Grant

The NY3Rs Association, Inc. and its I2NY Library as Publisher Work Group are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2014/2015 NY3Rs Association Library as Publisher Innovator Grant.

The Deadline for Applications is Midnight, September 30th, 2014.

Banned Books Week - September 21-27

Banned books week, sponsored by the Library of Congress and its Center for the Book is this month.

North Country Library System Annual Meeting

On September 27, the annual meeting for the NCLS will be taking place in Watertown. The keynote speaker is Margie Ingram of the Humor Project. The annual awards for Library Improvement, Trustee of the Year, and Director of the Year will also be presented.
