A letter to the Victorian Premier - from Tennis Victoria

You may have recently received the latest "Tennis Victoria News - September" and included was a letter to The Victorian Premier, The Hon. Daniel Andrews, the Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton and the Minister for Community Sport, The Hon. Ros Spence.

Tennis Vic is stongly advocating for the return to tennis as soon as possible, and their letter can be viewed here:  https://www.tennis.com.au/vic/news/2021/09/07/26428

TCAV (Tennis Coaches Australia Victoria) have also been strongly advocating for a return to tennis coaching.

** From the Premier's Announcement yesterday (16 Sep 21) unfortunately tennis is still not open.  We are hopeful we will have more information when the 'roadmap to reopening' is released on Sunday.

2021-22 Membership udpate

At our recent Committee meeting it was agreed to keep the early payment discount open indefinitely to our existing members for their 2021-22 renewals.

If your membership is yet to be paid you will have recieved a reminder yesterday (16Sep), directly from ClubSpark. Check your junk/spam box if you haven't seen it.

Hopefully we are back on court soon, so please renew your membership asap so you are able to make online court bookings, and use the facilities when restrictions ease and we reopen.

If you have any questions please email Deb/Lita.

Light Fee - removed until 30 June 2022

Also at our recent EMTC Committee meeting it was agreed that we would waive the light fee for all members for the remainder of this financial year (30 June 2022).

When tennis returns we are keen for as many members as possible to have the opportunity to get back on the court, without any additional cost.  The fee has been removed from Book A Court.

Club Hoodies orders udpate

Our Club Hoodies have been ordered and we hope to have them back to us by late September/early October.  When they are ready for collection we will email you.

We ordered a few extras in some sizes so if anyone wishes to check out the style/sizing please see Deb/Lita in the office.  Our next order will be done prior to the start of the Winter 2022 weekend season.

Winter 2021 weekend Competition wrap up

After the complete cancellation of our Winter 2020 season everyone was keen for the Winter 2021 season to go ahead, with things looking good early on.  Unfortunately the emergence of the Covid Delta variant caused a stop/start/stop scenario and there was no recovering from Lockdown #6.  Most competitions only managed to play 6-8 rounds out of 14.

In the Senior (Sat PM) both Tennis Vic Pennant and Bayside declared they would not award any Premiership Flags as half a season does not give an equitable result.

In Juniors, WDTA declared the teams at the top of the ladder Premiers and 2nd place Runners Up.

Congratulations to all our teams for their efforts this season.

Premiers
Saturday DSp2 Triples - Beth Coombes, John Orr, Lisa Airs, Jade Airs
Sunday D1 Triples - Xavier Schleiger, Harry Brunne, Luke Barber, Monty Bernadou.

Runners-Up
Sunday BSP3 Rubbers - Kanella Pirpiris, Ethan Oyston, Josh McVean.
Sunday B4 Rubbers - Jack Kocolis, Will Hansen, Matthew Olynyk, Dare Lim.
Sunday CSp2 Triples - Reuben Kamler, Huon Forward, Torbjorn Christensen,Luca Biesse.
Sunday D3 Triples - Asha Bhattacarjee, Emma Whibley, Emerald Petherbridge, Yasmin Rixon.

Spring Night Comp Update

BDNTA: Email received 3 September 2021

Because of the latest Government lock down notice, it seems unlikely that tennis will recommence before the end of September or maybe late October.

We are committed to try and get as many matches of this current season played and so will probably go later into December and start mid January 2022 to complete the season.

The matches that have been declared washouts up to date will probably remain, with 10 rounds plus finals still to be played. The dates situation can change at any time, and BDNTA will have to keep adapting to try and give the teams the best chance possible to play the sport they love.

WDTA no further updates from previous advice.

EMTC grounds beautification to date..

Over the last 12 months you will have noticed new garden beds popping up around the place, and a bit of work down the driveway between Crts 6 & 7.   A big thank you to Robin, Lindsay and their helpers for this work.

Lindsay continues to keep our garden areas looking beautiful.  We really appreciate her work.

We are in the process of installing a Shade Sail down near the back courts.  This is with funds received from a Govt Grant.

The Garden Bed, and footpath along Court 7-8 fence line.  No more muddy puddles!

The upgraded driveway between Courts 6 & 7, with the garden beds to be planted out in the next month or so.

Our front entrance has also had a spruce up - courtesy of Multinet Gasworks. It was their way of saying 'thank you' for the use of our carpark during their recent gas works on Moira/Dunlop St. Robin finished the job off with some kerbing and it looks fantastic.
