Decision Guide to S/CR/NC Grading
Spring 2020 S/CR/NC Grading Option
Originally, students were going to be able to convert to S/NC grading. A third option of CR has now been added to the choices for some classes. THIS MAY CHANGE ANY ADVICE FORMERLY GIVEN BY YOUR ADVISOR.
Students have the ability to change any eligible spring class to the new grading modes. You can change none, some, or all of your classes. Grades of S, CR, and NC do not impact your UTK GPA.
What Do Grades of S/CR/NC Mean?
If you move to S/CR/NC grading, instructors will still compute a final average for you, and then assign S/CR/NC based on your final average:
-
S = final letter grade of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, or C
-
CR = final letter grade of C-, D+, D, or D-
-
NC = final letter grade of F
Changing to S/CR/NC
If you want to change any class(es) to S/CR/NC or S/NC grading, you must do this in MyUTK during the change window, which is April 13-22. If you decide not to make any changes, simply do nothing and your grading mode will stay the same as it has always been. Instructions are in Step 5 below.
