![]() Dear friend, Sean McEnroe is a resident in one of Lift UP’s Adopted Buildings who is committed to the well-being of her neighbors. For the past four years, she’s facilitated Food Box deliveries for her neighbors experiencing the highest need for healthy, fresh produce and groceries. She also provides access to the on-site Emergency Food Closet every week. Her dedication didn’t waiver when the pandemic swept through Portland. “I open the Food Closet every Friday. Before, people could take what they needed. Now they choose from the shelves and I hand them what they need. I have 15 to 20 people each week that need food.” When asked why she volunteers, she said “I do it because I enjoy seeing their smiling faces. Although now, it’s their smiling eyes.” Sean’s resolve and resilience are major factors in developing a new volunteer opportunity through Lift UP. We’re in the process of creating the role of Resident Advocate, an individual who can provide access to the buildings we provide food for and is passionate about championing for their neighbors in need. Sean, along with several other residents in Northwest and Downtown Portland, inspire us with their boundless ability to keep going, even when the going gets tough. Sean stays very busy in her free time. She’s an animal lover, with two cats and a dog who keep her company. She loves knitting, quilting, and crocheting. “If you don’t move it, you lose it.” Words to live by! Thank you for all the hard work you do, Sean! Gratefully, ![]() The Lift UP Team The Lift UP Annual Spring Food and Fund Drive is in full effect and we're still looking for community partners to host drives to benefit our neighbors in Northwest and Downtown Portland. For socially-distanced food drives, Lift UP can supply collection bins and signs. For virtual drives, we can create websites exclusively for your organization or business. The rest is entirely up to you! At $8,000, we're so close to meeting our goal of $10,000! Food brings us together. |
