Cooks River Fun Run

Get racing for the early bird entry fee for the Cooks River Fun Run! Returning for its 9th year in a row, this great family event takes in the Bay to Bay Cycleway from Freshwater Park to Ford Park. Participants can choose from a 5km or 10km run, a 5km walk or 10km relay. The event also features a 2km Kids Run.

When: Sunday 24 June 2018
Where: Start and finish at Freshwater Park, Strathfield - Turn around at Ford Park

Council are seeking friendly, enthusiastic and competent volunteers to take part in Strathfield’s favourite fun run. Please click here for further information.

Sustainability Superheroes

Residents have been taking advantage of the Reverse Vending Machine at Strathfield Square, with 351,047 containers collected in 7 weeks - that’s 70,209.4 tonnes diverted from landfill!

 
Scores on Doors

Increase Your Scores on Doors Rating!

Reviewing Scores on Doors results shows that half of the stores with an improved score had attended Council’s Food Safety Seminar. This is an outstanding result and shows how businesses with the right motivation and guidance can improve food safety and hygiene practices.

ANZAC Memorial Service

Anzac Memorial Service

On Sunday 22 April, the Cumberland RSL Sub-branch and Council hosted an Anzac Memorial Service to commemorate all Australians who have served and continue to serve their country.  In a display of remembrance and gratitude, the service included the laying of wreaths by the Davey Square Memorial from a number of groups throughout the Strathfield LGA community.

Upgrades to the playing fields in Bressington Park are currently underway! A multi-function amenities building will also be finalised over the upcoming months to provide improved levels of services to all user groups.

 
 
Tackle Pollution

Working Group to Tackle Pollution

Council has established a collaborative working party to deal with litter, waste and access issues in the area bounded by Centenary Park, Parramatta Road, Flemington Markets and Arthur Street (i.e. Courallie Ave Precinct). Members of the working party include representatives from Flemington Markets, Courallie Ave, the Richmond Rd Industrial precinct, RMS, EPA, Councillors and Council staff. The first meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 22 May 2018.

 
Swings & Roundabouts

Swings and Roundabouts

A new roundabout is being constructed at the intersection of Wallis Ave and High Street. The Roads and Maritime Services have funded the construction of the roundabout in an effort to provide safety to the community. Council aapologises for the short term traffic delays during the construction period.

 
Road Safety

Road Safety Educational Kids Bike Track

Council have installed a road safety kids bike track, proving to be a fun and educational way to get a head start on teaching your children to be familiar with road rules. The track is located on the Chalmers Road side of Strathfield Park.
