Surf lifesavers are some of the most dedicated and outstanding volunteers who really do change communities and change lives. To celebrate National Volunteer Week and to recognise the outstanding efforts of our volunteers, we profiled a series of members from NSW surf clubs. New Coronavirus Updates and Resources for SLSNSW MembersSLSNSW has created an agile Return to Sports Plan to address the fluid requirement of each restriction level as they are adopted and announced by the NSW Government. The intent of this Plan is to provide clear and concise actions and guidelines to branches, clubs and members for the current phase legislated by the NSW Government as we navigate our return to training and competition. This will also include Junior Activity Programs as it becomes relevant. Hazardous Weather Warning: Large Swell and Strong Winds to Hit NSW CoastThe Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Hazardous Surf Warning and Marine Wind Warning for the NSW coastline from Eden on the Far South Coast to Byron Bay on the Far North Coast. The hazardous weather conditions are forecast to impact the NSW coast from today, 22 May, through to at least Sunday 24 May. Sharkskin Supports Frontline Healthcare WorkersWhen the Coronavirus pandemic reached Australian shores, both domestic retail sales and international exports were impacted, leaving many local manufacturers in hot water. NSW Dorothy Hennessy OAM Emergency Services Youth ScholarshipThe $1000 scholarship is to assist with further studies in the recipient's chosen career whilst celebrating and supporting the contribution of young volunteer heroes. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
