Managing COVID-19 No images? Click here The current health crisis has impacted all areas of our community. Here at Strathfield Council we are constantly updating our response to the pandemic, as the situation continues to evolve. As well as programs to assist the vulnerable in our community, we're also promoting local businesses and assisting to educate the public on best practices and current restrictions. We'd also like to remind residents of Financial Hardship Policy, which may provide some budget relief to households in the coming months. We're still not out of the woods, but we're on the right track. If we continue to follow the advise of health experts, we'll all be meeting again soon. Cr Antoine Doueihi Mr Henry Wong From today, locals will see Council’s latest action in the fight against the spread of Covid-19 – our Honorary Rangers. The group will be distributed in parks throughout the Strathfield area and tasked with sanitising commonly touched surfaces and helping park-goers navigate the current restrictions. The Honorary Rangers main job is to protect the community, so if you see them, give them a wave and don’t be afraid to ask questions. A complete list of restrictions is available here. The COVID-19 pandemic has had far-reaching effects for all areas of our community. Council is conscious of the financial pressures facing businesses and households, and would like to inform ratepayers of our Rates Hardship Policy. The Policy presents options for people facing genuine financial hardship, including:
If you are experiencing difficulty paying your rates, we encourage you to contact Council and submit an application. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and should be made in writing to: council@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or Strathfield Council You may have noticed increased signage in relation to upholding social distancing standards. It is essential that our community practices all social distancing measures so that we may collectively stop the spread of Covid-19. You can do your part by staying home as much as possible, keeping a distance of 1.5m apart from others and practicing good hygiene. In light of current circumstances putting pressure on small businesses, Council has launched Be Local, Buy Local, encouraging the Strathfield community to support local businesses. The next time you step out to purchase household items, lend a helping hand and support small businesses within the Strathfield LGA to go in the draw to win a $100 debit card. Spend at least $150 throughout the week, keep a copy of your receipt/s and email to enter! Terms and conditions apply. On 26 March Council launched the Neighbour2Neighbour Program which connects vulnerable residents with neighbours who are in a position to help. In the midst of the current health crisis, the Strathfield community has demonstrated their capacity to choose kindness by helping residents in need during uncertain and difficult times. In addition to 20 residents enabling Council to fulfill every Neighbour2Neighbour request, Strathfield Girls High School established a food collection drive for vulnerable residents. Council is grateful for the support and generosity of all members of the local community and encourages vulnerable residents who require essential items to contact Council on 02 9748 9939.
