Hello neighbor,

I’m Abby, Lift UP’s Volunteer Manager. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve been ensuring Lift UP’s volunteers feel safe and empowered.

Lift UP relies on approximately 70 volunteers to implement our food programs each week. Volunteers do everything from picking up donated food, packing bags and boxes of groceries for our Delivered Food Box Program, ensuring staffing needs are met for Preston’s Pantry, and other special events.

As a result of COVID-19, some of our most dedicated volunteers have had to take a step back. To bridge the gap and respond to the growing need for additional food assistance, I’ve had to recruit new volunteers using online resources. Many of our fellow community members are also reaching out to see how they can help. We’ve seen a 30% increase in new volunteers! It’s inspiring to see our community committed to ensuring no one goes hungry during this time.

Making sure that volunteers feel safe and enjoy their experience is a priority for me. Are you looking to help your community while staying home? Write a quick card or letter with a positive message and brighten the day of clients who receive grocery deliveries! If you do not wish to write a message, that is okay! Artwork will also be accepted (photographs, drawings, paintings).

Feel free to be creative and have fun. Bonus points if you can incorporate food into your work! This is also a great project for kids.

Please keep the cards secular and avoid mentioning any specific holidays.
