We now have over 360 volunteer joining together at the end of July and a program that is jam packed with interactive workshop sessions, engaging guest speakers along with a number of social gatherings. A welcome email was sent to all attendees on Tuesday 2nd of July outlining key conference information, and we thank each and every club for supporting their membership to attend this key event. IRB Teams Preparing For Aussie TiltQueensland clubs have enjoyed plenty of success at the Australian Inflatable Rescue Boat Championship in recent seasons, but the NSW competitors will be counting on home-town knowledge when they take to the water at Thirroul. Lifesavers To Swap Waves For LanesThe halcyon days on a summer beach will be a distant memory for the more than 400 talented surf lifesavers who this weekend will hit the pool in the quest for glory at the NSW Pool Rescue Championships on the state’s Central Coast. Lifesavers On Whale WatchEvery winter thousands flock to beaches and headlands across the state’s coastline, searching for the best vantage point to see one of nature’s most majestic creatures make their annual migratory trip north to warmer waters. Changes to Regulations and Membership CategoriesA review of SLSA policies and guidelines is now complete and there are a number of amendments to regulations detailed in SLSA Circular: SLSA Regulations Review and Update. Membership categories have also been streamlined and the SLSA Membership Form updated. An explanation of the new categories including FAQs has been uploaded to the Members Area. Changes to Membership Categories can be found in Library under Governance and Policies or via the new search function. Annual Compliance Requirements for Clubs and BranchesSubmissions for the Annual Compliance Requirements for clubs and branches for the 2018/19 season are now open. Submissions can be made online here, please read Circular 3559: Annual Requirements for Clubs and Branches to be Compliant With SLSNSW for the 2018/19 Season for further information. Nominations for the Education Advisory Committee and the Development Advisory CommitteeSLSA is now calling for nominations for the Education Advisory Committee and the Development Advisory Committee. Nominations must be submitted on the prescribed Expression of Interest Form found here be endorsed by the Nominee’s Club. If applying for more than one position, a separate application is required for each role. Nominations will be appointed by the respective Chair, Education and Development on 27 August 2018. Regional Sport and Active Recreation PlansThe Office of Sport is seeking input into the recently released nine Regional Sport and Active Recreation Plans across the state. The plans represent a new approach to collaboration, planning and delivery of sport and active recreation activities and infrastructure. They have been developed in collaboration with key stakeholders in each region, and follow on from consultation throughout 2017 and early 2018. Each plan provides recommendations for activities and strategies that could be implemented in each region to support grass roots to elite level sport. The strategies within each plan focus on outcomes that support improved participation, streamlined performance pathways, access to fit-for-purpose facilities, the delivery of valued sporting events and improved collaboration within the sector. The plans provide a list of possibilities which will be prioritised by each region’s Sport and Active Recreation Planning and Delivery Group over the next five years. Premier's Volunteer Recognition ProgramThe Premier's Volunteer Recognition Program recognises the contribution volunteers make towards our communities. Both adults and students are acknowledged under the program, with each nominee receiving a certificate recognising their individual efforts. The Premier launched the program in 2015, and since then more than 13,000 volunteers have been recognised across NSW under the program. Sydney Water Local Community GrantsThe Sydney Water Local Community Grants is now open and closes on Friday 27 July 2018. Grants of up to $1,000 are available to support grassroots community organisations in the areas of Sydney, Illawara and the Blue Mountains. The grant can be used for reusable water bottles, water refill stations, suitable equipment and/or training.
