PARENT NEWSLETTER A Letter from Gen. Rick Geraci, our new Chief Academic Officer Dear Parents and Guardians: First, thank you for entrusting us with your cadet’s education. We are looking forward to partnering with you to ensure his academic success. Our focus on academic excellence is part of our 360° Education that also includes character development, personal motivation, leadership training and physical development. Our expectations are high and our academic programs are designed to prepare every cadet for college. We take pride in the fact that every cadet who graduates is accepted into college, with many cadets receiving scholarships. At the beginning of every school year, we develop an academic “game plan” for each cadet based on previous academic performance, assessment testing, cadet interests, and demonstrated potential. We work to meet each cadet’s needs in order to build his confidence and improve subject matter proficiency so that he can move to the next level. We use online classroom management and communication technology such as Google Classroom and Naviance, and you will be able to see online grades posted every week by close of business on Friday. Additional details will be provided in the near future. Let there be no mistake, the faculty will challenge all cadets and will hold them accountable for required homework, academic integrity, and taking personal responsibility for learning. Our success in motivating cadets to unlock their academic potential is the result of numerous tutoring opportunities, guided study halls, and our Student Success Center. We believe that establishing a positive relationship with every cadet is a precondition to successfully teaching boys. This is supported by a structured, disciplined, and predictable environment. Our partnership and your support are key factors in maximizing the effectiveness of our programs. Please visit our website to read about our wonderful teachers. You can expect to hear from them on a regular basis. Sincerely, Richard (Rick) V. Geraci
Total EclipseStudents had their eyes on the sky on the first day of classes. Daydreaming? Perhaps, since it was dark for a minute as the moon crossed in the path of the sun for a total solar eclipse. Prior to that, cadets learned all about this natural phenomenon via a co-curricular presentation by faculty. Read more.
