GPSC Patient Medical Home Assessment

January 22, 2018 - Beach Club Resort, Parksville

Please join us on January 22 for a dinner and evening with our PSP team to engage with the Patient Medical Home Assessment tool. This assessment will help you determine your readiness for PMH coming to Oceanside.

Come spend an evening with your peers, gain insights into your practice journey, and support discussions around the best strategies that fit our local and unique journey towards the Patient Medical Home.

Required for this session is a tablet or laptop to complete the survey as it is an online tool. Please bring one with you.
It's an opportunity to do this as a group and engage in conversation.

Please RSVP to Annie Gaudette by January 19, 2018

Early career choices: Locum vs. office-based family practice

Dear physician/resident,

Are you interested in learning about the current trend of establishing practice for new and established family physicians?

We are second year family residents from the Vancouver Fraser program. We are inviting you to participate in this online survey to help us understand the reasons behind choosing to establish an office based family practice vs. other types of practice. Given the current shortage of family physicians that are accepting patients, we hope to gain an insight into what drives the decision to establish an office based family practice.

This online survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes of your time. Participation in this study is voluntary and the responses are strictly confidential. All participants are eligible for a prize draw (three $20 Starbucks gift certificates) by entering their emails after finishing the survey. Your email will not be linked to your responses.

We have attached a consent form. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting us at g.perezflores@alumni.ubc.ca or jenn.b.wang@alumni.ubc.ca.

You can access the survey by clicking on this link: https://survey.ubc.ca/surveys/37-16f39b106c1b826699e89121634/early-career-choices/

Thank you for your participation.

Pathways Online Specialist Referral Rollout

The Pathways online specialist system is live and so far, the feedback has been that you love it!  Pathways is an online resource that allows GPs and their office staff to quickly access current and accurate referral information, including wait times and areas of expertise, for specialists and specialty clinics. In addition, Pathways makes available hundreds of patient and physician resources that are categorized and searchable.

In January, Sharon Todd and Janice Schmidt, our Pathways Administrator, will be visiting medical offices and bringing along access keys to get you logged on and using this fantastic physician resource.  If you haven't already been visited, you can send a quick note to Sharon to ensure you get your access sorted out and all of your questions answered by our resident expert, Janice.  Click here if you want to know more about Pathways and what it will offer your medical practice in the meantime!

RCI CME Thank You!

A big thanks to the great group that came out for the 2 polypharmacy sessions in November. With the superb facilitation skills of Drs. Keith White, Chris Rauscher and Suzanne Voetmann, there was plenty of engaging and thoughtful dialogue between physicians, residential care facility staff and pharmacists. For those who were interested in attending but missed the sessions, the handouts and presentations are available online at our website in the CME section. Click here to access.  We look forward to more great learning and intra and inter-professional collaborations in the near future!
