Ginninderry update

Work on The Link, Ginninderry’s Multi Purpose Centre is progressing well. The team is currently working on improving the pond and pond habitat, external claddings, windows and services rough-in. It is envisaged that works will reach the lock-up stage of construction (when all the windows and exterior doors are on; a significant milestone for the project) by Christmas, with landscaping works beginning in mid-January. By early February, the building will be lined internally, and commissioning of the building will be completed the month following, ahead of official completion, targeted for the end of March 2017.

The Ginninderry team would like to welcome Ross Hincksman, as our new residential sales consultant.   The Conservation Corridor Management Trust

The Ginninderry project will create a 577 hectare conservation corridor along the Murrumbidgee River and Ginninderra Creek. In addition to its role in protecting important endangered species and ecological communities, the corridor will be a great asset for nature based recreation and education for the Belconnen community; it will cross the border and include land in both the ACT and NSW.

Local community input into the management of the corridor will be vital and to ensure that this happens it is proposed to set up an environmental management trust. The trust will manage all of the land in the corridor and be run by a board of directors that includes elected representatives from the local community. The trust arrangement will enable the community to be represented in decision-making associated with the corridor, and it will ensure a uniform management structure on both sides of the border. The trust will be funded from the project and will also benefit from revenue streams associated with recreation, tourism and education within the corridor. These funding  streams will secure sound and sustainable conservation management into the future.

  Meet our builders

A select number of local builders have been handpicked to bring the master planned vision for Ginninderry to life. Each of the 15 builders were chosen for their unique style and ability to deliver exceptional value for money and quality. Our builders will have house and land packages for sale in 2017 and most will have a display home in the future display village, to be  known as the Ginninderry Homes Collection.

Frank Fenner Foundation’s EcoriumXChange finds new home at Ginninderry

Ginninderry will be the vehicle for a ‘learning journey’ for both the project and the Frank Fenner Foundation; around the integration of urban living into the natural environment and strengthening of biosensitive practices. The EcoriumXChange project will seek to understand how planning and urban design impacts on environment, people and their quality of life.

You can also listen to Dr Peter Tait's interview on 666 ABC Canberra, where he talks about the important sustainability and urban design work the foundation will undertake at Ginninderry, as a part of the EcoriumXChange. Read more

The vision for the sustainability precinct

The Ginninderry project team is exploring exciting new uses for the open space in and around the ACT’s former landfill site located in West Belconnen.

The ultimate vision for the old landfill site is to turn into a sustainability precinct.  This will be an area that provides opportunities for recreation, educational experiences, community activities, recycling, the development of sustainable businesses, social enterprises and community projects, nurseries and community gardens.  While not all uses are compatible with all locations on the site due to previous land use, some areas have great potential once appropriately remediated and certified, and other areas will remain as green open space for nature and recreation.
