SOMOS Fund Benefit

Please join us at the El Paso Community Foundation for a fundraiser benefitting SOMOS on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.  SOMOS is a project of the El Paso Community Foundation that funds mentoring and college scholarships for youth that are victims of violence in Ciudad Juarez.

The August 14 screening of the documentary Kingdom of Shadows during the Foundation’s Plaza Classic Film Festival is the perfect backdrop for in-depth review of the impact of drug policies that play out along the U.S./Mexico border.

A riveting panel discussion with Kingdom of Shadows director Bernardo Ruiz, award winning journalist Alfredo Corchado, author of the recently released Midnight in Mexico, El Paso based KHOU News Border Bureau Chief Angela Kocherga explores the realities of U. S. drug policies and Oscar Hagelsieb, Assistant Special Agent-in-charge of Homeland Security Investigations.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from individuals who have witnessed, lived and reported on the events that shape our understanding of the turmoil along our border.

Tickets are $50 at the door.  Call 915-533-4020 for more information.  First 20 will get a complimentary, autographed copy of Midnight in Mexico. Please send us your RSVP to rsvp@epcf.org.

Hors d'oeuvres will be catered by Michael Ross.
