Waste-Zero-Warriors @Local Wild Food Challenge 2019Waste-Zero-Whakatāne is teaming up with Whakatāne District Council Tourism & Events and Waste Management Teams to effectively manage waste at next month’s Local Wild Food Challenge.
We need a team of Waste-Zero-Warriors to volunteer at this event to assist with waste management. We’ll have an event waste-management expert at the event showing us the ropes and helping us deliver an effective waste management plan for the event.
This is an awesome opportunity to not only reduce waste at the event, but also – alongside Whakatāne District Council – learn the ins and outs of effective waste management so that we can empower other event organisers across the District in the future to do the same.

Brief : The brief is diverse and broad – Art from re-cycled and upcycled materials or a piece that represents an environmental statement. This will be an eclectic show with the opportunity for loads of free expression.
Over the past 4 years of running this exhibition we have have wonderful imaginative entries to this exhibition which has drawn huge crowds of foot traffic and generated terrific sales of art works.
Term 1 After School Programme at House of ScienceHouse of Science Tauranga runs after-school programmes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30 pm. The classes are hands-on and run by passionate science educators. Numbers are strictly limited so early booking is advised.

Summer writing competition Introduction This summer, DOC is putting a focus on how to treat our environment the right way. We want to know how much you respect your own backyard. So why not write about it? Competition topic 'Interacting with New Zealand
wildlife'. Let your creativity run wild! Prizes Entries will be judged in age categories. The prize is a conservation calendar and a one year membership to either the Kiwi Conservation Club or Forest & Bird, depending on age of winners. Three prizes will be awarded, thanks to Forest & Bird. How to enter You must be under 18 to enter. The competition begins Friday 14 December 2018.
