The Denver region has been awarded an opportunity to support a regional approach to greenhouse gas emissions tracking and reporting and climate action planning. The City of Denver, City of Boulder and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability are looking for partners to help improve the region’s capacity to promote and support voluntary actions to address climate change and become more resilient.

During the two-day workshop, attendees will learn about the regional context for climate planning and the scope of work for the project. Attendees will also participate in technical sessions to review data and data gaps for various sectors (such as transportation, land use and industrial).

Several local governments in the metro area have produced greenhouse gas inventories or climate action plans, and a regional approach offers several potential benefits:

  • more ambitious, widespread and highly effective actions
  • measurement and action that matches the regional scale of systems producing greenhouse gas emissions
  • the ability to leverage greater resources and collective efforts
  • creation of tools, data and opportunities that enable jurisdictions of all sizes to participate

For more information, please contact Robert Spotts or Tom Herrod.
