Advisory group EOI | Practice Owners National ConferenceThe Royal Australian College of General Practitioners is currently accepting expressions of interest from GPs interested in being involved as a member of the advisory group for the 2020 Practice Owners National Conference. The group will provide advice and guidance to the College regarding the development of the program for the conference, which is aimed at all who aspire to, or currently own, a GP clinic. EOIs are being accepted until 11.59 pm on Sunday 25 August 2019. Medical Training Survey now openCoordinated by the Medical Board of Australia, the Medical Training Survey is an important quality improvement tool that, over time, will help to strengthen medical training in Australia. More survey participants leads to better quality data and a strong evidence base for ongoing improvements. Participants will be invited to complete this confidential survey upon renewal of their registration with the Medical Board of Australia. The survey will only take 10 minutes to complete and is a great opportunity to make your voice heard. Round 2 placement process for 2020Round 2 applications for 2020 placements starts today and runs until 4:30 pm 29 August. This round is for existing NTGPE GP registrars who either did not apply in Round 1 and need a placement in 2020 or were unsuccessful. Ensure you have your preferred placements ready to apply. Tip: When you land on your GP Tracks homepage, navigate to the placemeNT site via the link in the menu at the top of the page. Ensure you're using a supported internet browser. Round 2 placement process for 2020The next few weeks are going to be full of activity with GP registrars applying for 2020 placements in Round 2 of the placement period between 22–29 August. Following this, the training post selection period will run from 30 August – 26 September, where training posts shortlist, interview and make placement offers to GP registrars. If you need a hand understanding placements, we've put together a step-by-step guide which walks you through the process, including key dates and using the placemeNT online platform. Alice Springs Mobile Office a successOur Mobile Office hit the road to Alice Springs last week, where we held a GP Supervisor Professional Development Workshop with 10 participants attending from across various practices and six supervisors attending our Foundation Supervisor Workshop. Both workshops received great feedback and the participants really engaged with the role play activities. Other events during the week included an information session for practice managers where updates on the GP training program were provided, accreditation site visits and a meet and greet with NTGPE staff and GP registrars from in and around Alice Springs as well as a dinner for GP supervisors and practice managers. GPSA Webinar | Supporting Your Registrar to Manage Stage 3 (Advanced) DementiaRegistrars have limited exposure to stage three (advanced) dementia, therefore less chances to learn about management. But with an ageing population, it's important for GP supervisors to teach registrars - and give them experience - in treating patients at all stages of the illness. GPSA have put together an informative webinar that delves into this topic, and have also made the frequently asked questions available. |
