Tim Vaughan Racing - June Newsletter
Dear All,
Our team has made a very good start to the season, with 12 winners already on the board.
We'll have around 25 to run over the summer, which will keep us relatively busy on the racecourse, but the winter horses will start to come into training next week and that's something we are all looking forward to, as it is such an exciting time of year to get them all underway again!

Quickfire double for Midnight Folie
Midnight Folie hasn't been with us very long, but she got off to the perfect start when bolting up at Ffos Las under an uncomplicated ride from Ben Jones.
Having won five points in a row in April/May for previous connections by an aggregate of 110 lengths, it was no surprise that she was able to capitalise on her handicap mark of 85 back under rules and she did so in fine style, making all the running and largely jumping very fluently, just making a couple of little mistakes in the home straight.
She made light of a penalty for her owners Trevor Nicholas and Malcolm Price at Newton Abbot earlier this week in what was a more competitive race, but the handicapper has put her up to a mark of 100 from Saturday and that will certainly make life tougher. Still, she looks to have more to offer and hopefully she can make a very bold bid for the hat-trick back off her lower hurdles mark at Cartmel tomorrow.

Resurgent Dovils wins again
Dovils Date is something of a celebrity figure at Pant Wilkin stables. A hugely popular veteran, he has been with us since 2012 and it has been an absolute pleasure to see him in resurgent form of late under Charlie Price, getting the better of a battle at Uttoxeter in May and then following up by a wide margin at Southwell on Monday, shrugging off an 11lbs rise and a step up in grade!
He has given his owners in the Itsfuninit syndicate so many memorable days on the racecourse and it is amazing to think that was his 11th win for us from 45 starts.
I can only imagine what the handicapper will do next, but he is a little superstar and owes us nothing.

Alltimegold racks up a four-timer
Alltimegold took a good while to find his feet as, despite showing ability in his work at home, he had never managed to get things together on the racecourse.
A second over fences at Newcastle in April suggested his turn might not be far away, but nonetheless I must admit to being surprised by his sudden and considerable improvement, winning three times over fences in the space of 15 days, with two ready successes under Alan Johns followed by a facile win at Warwick under a confident Connor Brace.
Though the winning run came to an end over fences at Worcester, he then bounced back to winning ways just five days later over hurdles, winning at Ffos Las. He is clearly a tough individual to have handled that schedule and could be out again in the coming week.

Dylan hits the right note
Chimes Of Dylan had been in need of the experience on his chasing debut in May but, on just his second outing over the larger obstacles, he jumped really well and dug deep to win narrowly at Ffos Las under a fine ride from Alan Johns for owners Oceans Racing, the first of three winners at the track for us in June.
Just a six year old, he has a useful staying pedigree and I'm hopeful that there is a good deal more to come, particularly when we step him up in trip in due course. He clearly appreciates good ground and we'll look to keep him on the go in the weeks ahead.

Eva's Oskar gets the ball rolling
Our first winner of the 2019/20 campaign came courtesy of Eva's Oskar, who made the most of what had looked a very good opportunity when scoring at Hexham under Alan Johns.
With solid handicap form in the book, having finished second and fourth at Newbury on his previous two starts, he found himself in calmer waters back in novice company and duly got off the mark at the seventh attempt, winning by over four lengths for owners Sally and Richard Prince.
We sent him off for his summer holiday after that win and he'll be back in the autumn - we may start off over hurdles, but it won't be long before he goes chasing and I'm confident that will be his game.

Dickie drives Jefferson to Ludlow success
Jefferson Davis benefitted from an excellent Richard Johnson ride to get off the mark on his fourth start for us over fences at Ludlow.
The six year old, who like Chimes Of Dylan was purchased at the Doncaster Sale last August, made a couple of little errors and was the best part of 15 lengths down over the second-last, but Dickie got a really good tune out of him to hit the front shortly after the last, eventually going on to win by five lengths.
He was beaten over hurdles on his next outing (more on that below, as it came behind stablemate Three Colours Red), but it is encouraging to note that the second and third from Ludlow won next time and hopefully he can bounce back to winning ways over fences next time.

Red beats red at Warwick
Three Colours Red made his second start for the yard a winning one with a narrow success at Ludlow, amateur Morgan Winstone seen to really good effect on a horse part-owned by his family, rallying after getting headed up the home straight to get back up in the final strides, just denying Lord In Red in second, with Jefferson Davis back in fifth.
A 7lbs rise has made life tougher and he made a couple of mistakes before finishing fourth at Southwell today, but that was his chasing debut and I'm very hopeful he can go on to win races over the larger obstacles this summer.
